Choke cherry is amazing. I just saw some pics that were taken from the top of the hill and my heart started to race. I've seen videos of quads shooting the hill but nothing like the pictures I just saw. It makes little sahara oklahoma look like a bucket of sand. The country up there is beautiful as well. The mountains and snow capped peaks are amazing. Heaven on earth for a wanna be duner. If you live only 800 miles away you've got it made. Poor me lives in texas. Atleast we have Aledo, but Aledo sure as hell isn't sand.

Well, I live right up here in the middle of it, and I will have to be honest--in real life it's not like those pictures.

It's better.

The biggest, best dunes are in Idaho.. Take a week off and head north.. People travel from every state to ride Idaho's MONSTER dunes..

I hear ya Roost.... I lived in Amarillo for a short time, and had serious withdrawls from Idaho (Grew up 120 miles from the dunes)... At least I'm fairly close now, but sure would love to live right there too!

Choke cherry is nothing short of awesome.... and if that's not enough, there's always Devils dune.
I haven't seen any photo's do it justice.

Sure does make Waynoka seem like my 2 y/o's sand box..

Amarillo is probably some of the ugliest land in texas lol. My dad lives in the Austin area and the hill country is something special. My mom lives in houston and I like the giant pine trees everywhere but the humidity sucks. It always hovers around 90% year round and when you add the 95 degree days with that humidity you start to sweat just sitting outside.

I'll agree.... Amarillo is pretty ugly country.. Ugly weather, dry, hot, cold... pretty extreme place.
I lived in DFW for a while before that.... I understand all to well what you mean about the humidity... compared to Wyo/Idaho it's WET... still nothing compared to Houston.

want to know whats sad? I grew up in Idaho Falls all my life ( 45 minutes to st anthony) and started to ride the dunes seriously last year. there is so much trail riding oriund in the hills and a good sledding season. just bought a banshee this week and plan on hitting her hard a few nights a week after work.
