sandman-If you were asking how the day went for me i can give you a report.I got a chance to race some very fast quads both two and four stroke and i was beat by a few of the two strokes (drag banshees) but i was able to hang with or beat all others. One of the hard things about racing our comp hill in florence is that with it being only 300 feet you dont have a very big margin of error and any mistakes at the beginning and you will have problems and i got a few late starts today but still i was able to catch up by the top of the hill(sandman430 is very familiar with this hill).I raced the first very fast 450 r that i have seen and it must have been a big bore because it was all i could do to catch him at the top of the hill which i just barely did.I also raced a few crf450 dirt bikes at the south jetty and it is more like a 600 foot race and although i was ahead for most of the way they did catch up to me by the end of the race but those crf 450s are very fast especially on the top end.It seems that as long as a yfz has only a pipe and the cam mods along with the air filter they are not a problem for me but once they do more than that they are so quick off the line that i have to play catch up with them which my 690 seems to do very well but they make it a challenge.I am finding that most banshees except for the full out drag versions are not too difficult to beat but of course once they get to the point of having 70 to 90 HP they would be very tough to hang with on any four stroke. This is probably more than anyone wanted to hear but i must say that i am very impressed with my new 690 motor because even though i have lost 30 to 35lbs since last summer i am still a big load to haul up the hills at 225 to 230 but the 690 does a very good job of it and i still have some tweaking to do so it should get at least a little faster.

sandman-I think that the 690 motor that i have now would really shine in a longer uphill race where the torque could come into play. Those yfz 450s are so fast off the line that i am having a tough time at the beginning and i have to play catch up but i suppose that once i get used to this new motor that my starts will improve.I did run a aginst a yellow ds today that must have been built pretty far because it was all i could do to pass him at the top of comp and even then not by much.I may try ultra lite tires to see how much they could improve my acceleration but i dont know of too many people with experience with them although they seem to have helped marks 440 quite a bit.How long do you think it would take to get to sand mountain from eugene ?
