I have 3k sunk into mine including the price of the 2000 EZ-Go cart. Installed a high torque motor, beefed up speed control, lift tires paint the whole enchilada, I'll post pics later today. They are a kick to run around on after a day of hard riding.

Golf carts do have there place for a lot of people. At night going to the hill with a few people and just crusing around. They are great down in Mexico or anywhere on the beach. I have one with the 24hp honda that is in the garage that needs to be out of the garage. PM me I can fill you in on carts. My last one went 70 and climbed any dune out there. Intense carts did my first one. They do a lot of nice carts but they will run you some $$$

I don't know where you are located but my buddy just completely custom built his cart. he will be taking it out to Little Sahara for sandfest this week. It's been completely redone. Undercarriage has been completely painted(not spray paint). . body has a custom paint job. . blue marble look with skulls in the paint. .tons of stainless steel cut into flames. .rool cage all silver vein powdercoat. . custom interior. . stereo. . and a huge lift. .with polished aluminum wheels on a big meaty atv tire. . looks great. . he's a neat freak. .he's talking of selling it soon. . probably after this big weekned at the dunes. . if u are at all interested i'm sure i could get you pics of it. . we're in Springfield, Missouri!!

I'm a sport quad rider and i respect you guys and your interests. Good for you that you've foud a way to still enjoy the sand after a lifetime of having your bodies abused. But one thing i can't stand is 14 year olds (or anyone for that matter) acting like their the only one who matters and every one else is wrong. Also for him to tell you all that you are wasting your money when he really wouldn't have an honest concept of that sort of money unless he has one heck of a paper rout to afford that quad he's riding. You've earned your money, you can decide how you spend it. And if that includes a golf cart with a 8 inch lift for cruising the dunes with thats fine by me. Some people I tell ya.
