Kfx 400 dunes?

Yes, but I would recommend dropping the front sprocket 1 tooth to 13 if you are going to run paddles (a front sprocket is less than $20.00 and will give a noticeable difference. To really make a difference add a pipe, and get a airfilter you can run with the airbox lid off & re-jet. Otherwise I would say get a raptor, it has so much low-end torque that it is great for the dunes even in stock form. I have both a Z400 (recently piped etc) and a raptor and I ride mostly in the dunes. The Z is sooo much more fun now that I piped it (yoshi full comp series). I gained about a gear with the pipe so now I can take most hills a gear higher than I used to.

i agree , got the yoshi and dropped my front spocket about 3 weeks ago. took it out last weekend and rode the **** out of it. exhaust and 1 tooth down made a hell of a diff.
yoshz- what main jet do u use? i have a 165, haven't touched the needle and twisted air screw about a half a turn. runs good. i saw you had a jet kit , thinking about getting one , but it's running so good so far.

Kawiking,
How do you like your cdi? How much was it? Did you add it at the same time as the pipe or after? I was just wondering how much of a difference it makes because it looks like we have identical mods except for the cdi.
I've heard you can buy individual jets for just a few dollars each. Is that what you did to get the 165? Anyway the jet kit gives you a needle, a wide assortment of jets, and some instructions that should recommend which clip and jet to start with based on your elevation and mods. I'm running with the full yoshi comp pipe, k&n proflow with outerwear, and the airbox removed. I'm only running like a 145 or something like and the needle on the 2nd clip (the stock needle doesn't have clips to adjust) but I am also riding at around 5000 feet in elevation. I put the air/fuel screw and jet at the recommended setting and it seems to be pretty much spot on. At your elevation you may not need the kit if it is running well but if you ever have to rejet for a higher elevation the kit might help. With the pipe and airbox lid off and properly jetted it should run strong at any rpm. If its not hesitating, coughing, sputtering, backfiring and allows you to lug it then you should be fine.

my friend found the procom cdi on ebay when they first came out with it , they started the bid at $50. i ended up getting it for $65 with shipping , i think it's like $150 now. it has 3 diffrent power curves-1-3 curves,4-6 curves with 1000 rpm, 7-9 curves with 2000 rpms. i keep mine on 5 or 6. i had it on pavement on 4 and it took right off then i put it on 6 and it spun the hell out of the tires(holeshots xcr-03). the other day i was on a sand bar with friends and i was telling my friend(700 priarie with mods) i was going to beat his a$$. well i had it on 5 all day and was about 3 bike lengths behind my buddies rap with high comp piston , cams and race gas and other mods , so i knew i was going good. well i put it on 6 when i was waiting for the 700 . race him and we were side by side, dam i felt bad. the i swapped it to 5 and beat him buy about 3 lengths. i guess 6 curve may be to much for my mods i have. alot of people say procoms bad but i haven't had any trouble out of mine. the cdi for a 05 is diff from 04 back.
