Old pass expires Sept. 30.
I talked to BLM over Labor Day. They are planning to raise fees, but didn't have any idea of new cost.
I just talked to BLM. Sit down.....
$90 for the annual pass and $40 for a weekly pass.
New passes should be available by Oct. 1.
Call BLM Oct. 1 for new passes -> 775-885-6000.

BLM raising fees at Sand Mountain
Sep 28, 2005, 12:04 PM PDT
User fees for off-road vehicles at Sand Mountain will double beginning Saturday.
Under the new rates, annual passes will jump from 45 to 90 dollars. Weekly passes will cost 40 dollars. Permits are not sold on a daily basis. However, the BLM says Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be free, when no passes required.
BLM Carson City Field Manager Don Hicks says the money raised will help maintain the popular recreational site and efforts to protect the rare Sand Mountain blue butterfly.
The BLM began imposing fees at the mammoth sand dune 25 miles east of Fallon in March 2003. Last year, those fees generated $170,000, while costs rose to $225,000.
This year, management costs rose to over $300,000.
BLM projects expenditures will rise to more than $800,000 to implement conservation programs to protect the blue butterfly.

Really too bad. . .
Jon:
Is there any way to get the BLM to open the trails in back a little more to create a loop like there used to be. Fencing could be used on this to keep riders on the trails but, it is actually dangerous the way they have the same trail in and out. Too easy to have run-ins. Would be better to have a loop with a one-way trail.
Thoughts?

Boy , the tree-huggers must be laughing their asses off,and high-fiving each other!!! They throw a big protest about "preserving" a Weed or a bug with wings, and then afterwards LEAVE and give all the responisbilities of funding THEIR causes to the Dune ATVer's
