ISDRA Parking Passes
#1
Well, I was out at Glamis in October and I just got back from 4 days at Ogilby and let me tell you, at the rate we are going with Parking Permits we might see them before Oct 2007 LOL.
I talked to some people around Buttercup & Gordon's Well and nobody said they had seen a paystation. I heard last month that the Gecko Ranger station had them or you could mail order them. But if no one is coming around enforcing it whats the point?
I heard something about a new organization of some sort is taking it over and thats why its all fouled up right now.
Anyone hear anything else?

Just came back from a weekend at Buttercup and here's what happened with the permits. Our friends got there about noon on Thursday to find no pay stations. They talked to a rep from the ASA who said that a new company was doing them and that they should be on duty by 10:00 a.m. Friday. We got there at about 7:00 p.m. Thursday and found the same. I drove over to the pay station area at almost 10 a.m. Friday, no sign of any permit selling.
I took another ride over abour an hour later and they were there. The permits are being sold by the Imperial County Sheriff's Department. You can pay by cash or credit card. You need to fill out a "receipt" with your address and phone. The permits are on card stock, about 3 x 6 that are designed to hang from you rear view mirror. You can buy either the annual pass or weekly one. Enforcement was done by a few sheriffs checking out each vehicle on the way out on Sunday. I didn't notice anyone checking from camp site to camp site during the weekend.

Wow. I spent 4 days at the Microwave tower and there wasnt an authority figure in sight. We checked the spot on Ogilby right off I-8 on the way in and out and there was nothing. Last year there was some guy with a bus guarding the thing, but this year nothing.
It just makes me crazy, I dont mind spending the money, but i am not going to go out of my way for miles on end spending my riding gas looking for permits.
Sure I could order one over the net or whatever, but what if I didnt check the net like thousands of other people who expect the paystations to be out there?
Im penciled in for a Glamis trip on Dec 10th. Wanna take some bets on if there will be pay stations?

At Thanksgiving no pay machines around Glamis. Rangers selling permits at Wash Road and Gecko...NOT 24/7. No enforcement seen except at these temporary pay station setups. Stopping traffic coming and going.
