Heya bart my goal was not to offend you ,but hopefully to offend the nuts and idiots that ride around the pits all day with no shirt or helmet on revvin their peice of crap they built thinking its the fastest thing on the planet,I raced pro motcross for eight years and then raced proffesional enduro for about ten and i have raced the baja 1000 twice.
Now that i am 45 years old i have fell in love with riding four wheelers i am well qualified to judge a custom built machine,I was just talking about those guys that buy a pair of handgrips and a pipe and think they are something special,I wasnt trying to offend a true custom atv builder, I myself am in the process of building a true custom dune machine from the ground up.so sorry if i offended ya.

Have a good one

You have to give up something for power, whether it be rideability, reliability, or something else. Money of course is a given.

It's all about balance, how much are you willing to give up to get the power you want? Some are willing to rebuild engines after a race or two, others want to get a season or two out of their bikes with normal maintenance. Find your happy medium and understand that others will not always have the same feelings or values.

I'm guessing that since the poster is asking for ideas to copy he wont mind if the ideas aren't original...

What exactly does that have to do with this topic?

I gotta agree, most of the real hill shooters are just that. I don't know what you guys back east do, but out here where the hills are, ST. Anthony, Jericho, you don't run the hill vs. DAB or K&T at 480lbs. You don't run dune rides on the hill against the hill runners. You hill shoot with the tiny front tires, narrow axcels, drag pipes, etc. and you don't run the bowls with these quads. SO there is a point at which the functionability or your ride is compromised for speed. Not hating either, but I watch the guys run Sand Mtn.(Utah) all day, and I too think, "you've missed 90% or the dunes", Hills and power are great, but bowling and jumping are a major part of dune runing.
