Do you use the front brakes in the sand? I just picked up my first quad and found the front brakes not working. as i started to think about it i wondered...wont the smooth front tirese just slide in the sand .

No, they don't just slide. You will want the front brakes in working order. They shouldn't be hard to fix.

Sand had so much drag, that when you let off the gas you should come to a stop fairly quickly.

I rarely use brakes front or back, except to make a complete stop. I usually just downshift and come down on compression braking. I do find that on the quad I use the front brakes more then the rear, and that can be a bad habit when you switch back and for the between quads and dirt bikes.

thanks for the replies....i picked a really nicely done quadzilla a few months ago....and it just seemed odd that with so much work done to the bike, the front brakes were not working.....took the bike apart and found the problem, a broken line.

A Zilla! You may have a problem just keeping the front wheels on the ground....

Ah, a fellow Zilla rider. I don't get to go duning too much, but I must say that in berms and any situation where you want to turn quickly tap the front brake lean hard and crank the throttle, you will be able to turn with the trikes in the sand like that. funny you had a line issue, I bought mine with a severed rear shock line.
