Default Edge or Haulers (help)

Hi,
I was just about to order new tires for my raptor and I saw that Skat Trak makes a 10 paddle Edge.My ? is do you think I would get comparable traction to a 8 paddle hauler and still be able to slide the rear around.I know that the recomondation is to run a 8 paddle hauler for my raptor I was just wondering if I could run a 10 edge and gain some traction and still turn.I like climbing, but thats not all I do.Also the sand gets really soft during the summer at St. A.Any help is much apreciated.

The sand is very soft at Saint Anthonys. I would stick w/ the eight paddle. A ten paddle will rob to much power and you won't be able to pull the upper gears very well unless you like doing 75 down Devils Dune..

Default Edge or Haulers (help)

I had 10 paddle edges on my DS for a year , and I absolutly loved them! They had great traction and turned SO nice. I sold them , and now have 9 paddle hallers. The haulers hook-up better, but for all around traction, and trail riding ,I give the "Edge" to the Edges.

Default Edge or Haulers (help)

Thx ,for the replies.I'm not all knowing in this new world of sand tires.I would assume a edge type tire gets less strait pull traction then a hauler type so I just figured that bye going to a ten paddle edge type I could bring my taction closer to what I would get from a 8 paddle hauler type.Am I wrong .If so I will go with a eight edge because I'm more of a all around rider.
Thx

You might want to PM Eraptoid. He is always helpful and I think he has the ten paddle edges on a raptor.

Default Edge or Haulers (help)

The Edges are a good all around tire, I've ridden eraptoids quad with the 10 paddle Edges & they pulled ok but I needed a bit of a run & had to keep the power on all the way up larger dunes.

With my 8 paddle 22x11x10 Extreme Haulers The forward hook was much better & I can still turn well with the Mohawks on the front, Not as well as the Edges but I prefer the additional traction the Haulers provide.

Cool thx Moose,
So you don't think I'll have a problem with the 10 edges robbing my power.Do you think I should drop a tooth on my front sprocket. What size edges does Eraptoid have on his Raptor? In the add in DW I cold only find the 10 edge in a20x10x10.Is that what he is running?
thx

I don't think you have to worry about them robbing power, they spin fairly easy.

I don't rember what size his was (it was back in April when I rode his quad) give
JIms Sand Toys a call, They are one of the largest distributors of Skat Trak tires in the country.
I found out that not all places have all the diffrent sizes of tires. When I checked Rocky Mountain for the Extremes they didn't carry the 22x11x10's but Jims did.

Remember he is duning at Saint Anthonys. BIB BIG dunes and sand that is the softest of any dunes area in the country.. I wouldn't get a ten paddle for Saint Anthonys..

If that's the case I'd most definatly recomend the 8 paddle Extreme Haulers in 22x11x10.
Ultimate traction & good turning ability with Mohawks on front.
