Hey I am on my way down the Oregon trail, I am moving to Coos bay/North bend in January.
Last summer I hit St anthony about 10 times, and Little Sarah UT about 5 times (I live 3 hours from each)
I have looked at the dunes around North bend they look ok, just not as big and tall as what I am used to. How do you think the sand compares? Where is your favorite place to ride and why? I cant wait to get up there and check it out .

The dunes in Coos Bay (Spinreel and Horsefall) are fairly large, but not really all that steep. There are a few good spots, but you gotta know where to find them. It's fun riding, that's for sure. Winchester Bay, which is about 20 miles north of there has probably the steepest and tallest dunes in the state. It's definitely some good riding. Florence is another 20 miles past that (it's got a state park and is probably the most crowded). Only problem with Florence is that the crowds draw in the cops, which means....SOUND CHECKS!!!!

I've got a group of local Oregon and Washington Riders (Northwest Quad Riders...our club). If you want to meet up with some other local riders some time, drop me a line (email is in my profile). I will put you on our group email list, and any time we go riding...you'll know and will have some people to ride with.

welcome to oregon sandrptr.i think you will find that both florence and winchester offer a good ride but personally i prefer florence.winchester has some tall and challenging dunes but florence has more trails with beach access whereas winchester has no beach access.the crowds at florence arent that bad unless you are there on a major holiday weekend and still it never is what i would consider to be crowded.if you have any questions about florence or winchester e-mail me and i will try to answer whatever questions i can.
