Has anyone been or go to these dunes? If so how are they compared to other oregon dunes as in hill climbs, size, and over all fun ?

 

I ride there every weekend. Its the nicest dunes in my mind because its one of the largest areas. It has bigger hills than Florence, and least amount of people in the Spinreal area. Winchester is just north about 10min, its a small area but has the largest hills. You can see the whole place in a couple hours. You cant see all of the Coos Bay dunes in a day. Maybe even 2 days.

 

What dunes do you normally go to?? If you say SAND LAKE you'll be amazed by the size of the Coos bay area dunes. Sand lake is a sad place to ride period. Spend a little more gas and go to the good dunes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think that all the people complaining about the no beer in the dunes should be aloud to drink at sand lake. This would mak Florence and winchester and coos bay so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just my 2 cents. If you couldn't tell I really don't like Suck lake I mean "Sand Lake"

 

alright thanks for the info so far nordy. I have been to winchester bay a few times, florence 3 times, and sand lake abut 3 or 4. personally i dont enjoy sand lake that much. My favorite so far is winchester because i like hill climbs and winchester is a good place to find them. The reason i was asking is because ive heard of north bend dunes just never been there (or coos bay) and my family is heading to winchester bay (discovery point) for 8 days. We want to try and hit all the southern dunes. Anymore info will help. thanks again Nordy

 

If you want the big hills, then Winchester is where to go. North Bend is my favorite place to ride because it has everything. It has some good hills, a lot of trails (my fav), some flats and the beach. Plus, it is big. You should definitely check it out.

 

Thanks toyman. one more thing ... do you guys ever get bothered about sound on your raptors. I havent yet and i was wondering thats just luck? I have a full CT pipe and its really not that much louder if any than my e-series i had.

 

I have not been stopped yet. I hear that they are mostly only around on the 3 day weekends. I have only seen them a few times. I just keep the R's down and creep by.

Wizard - My family and I will be leaving next saturday (not this) and staying till that next saturday. stayin at discovery point. We will have a raptor (me), z400(dads), 250r(sister)s, atc250r (fun drag bike), and last but not least the big and bad warrior(moms). We also might have some friends coming with some Honda EX's.
