Been busier than usual for some reason.

Never done any log skidding. LOL

I took a couple short videos of here where I live, nothing special or neat.

The first half of the tour of my yard

The second half of the tour of my yard

tramp 10-18-2010 10:34 AM

great tour!

MooseHenden 10-18-2010 02:42 PM

Nice tour, Specta. Maybe we'll get out there someday. A word to the wise though. Don't use the word "bathhouse" if someone from the East coast comes out that way. It has a negative connatation.

Troyboy68 10-18-2010 04:35 PM

Looks like a fun future vacation,, keep us posted on the finish time line, thanks Specta.

Specta 10-19-2010 08:02 AM

thanks for the warning Moose, but being a west coast person I don't understand the negative of the term bathhouse.

They hope to have the cabooses fnished late next year. There are 4 more being finished as we speak, or post. LOL

Specta 10-25-2010 07:56 AM

WOW!!!! What happened to the summer??? Seems like just yesterday I couldn't wait for the snow to melt and I rode in it yesterday.

first snow trail 1095 video

more snow trail 1095 video

snow’s getting deeper trail 1095 video

These are only 3 minutes each. After 3 minutes of recording my camera stops recording.

MooseHenden 10-25-2010 08:18 AM

Wife and I took a weekend together and went up to VT. There was about 3 inches of snow above 1200-1300 ft. elevation. Was nice to see the snow. From what I saw on the weather map you may get some more this week.

Did you notice the animal tracks about a 1/3rd way through the last video? If so, what were they? From what I could see snowshoe hare or some kind of rabbit?

Digital cameras usually are limited by the size of the video they can take. If I put the new FujiFilm on a 640x480 resolution I can do about a half hour video. If I go up in resolution I get less. Don't know if that will help you on video length or not.

Specta 10-25-2010 09:12 AM

http://i56.tinypic.com/2cpesxz.jpg
I took this about 15 minutes ago, the temp has dropped 15 degrees in the last 2 hours.

The tracks looked like rabbit to me too.

I love the snow but we had a very long, cool and wet spring and a short summer. It's raining pretty hard right now and I should see snow at my door step today. The snow was not there in the foot hills last night.

My friends in Marysvale (5 miles from here) tell me thay have snow falling right now.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try.

Specta 10-25-2010 10:33 AM

I’m ready to go video
I was gone for 3 hours and went 25 miles. You’d of thought I was leaving on a world tour. :D

MooseHenden 10-25-2010 11:10 AM

I sometimes feel that way too. Do I have too much stuff? But, when it's getting really cold out it's worth having it. The hardest to pack for is cold and rainy. I usually just stay home.

Specta 10-25-2010 02:02 PM

Too much!! LOL Glad men don't have purses, I probably couldn't lift mine off the ground.

I love riding in the rain. When doug and I plan a ride we look at the forcast to see which day has the best chance for rain and that's the day we ride. It's seldom a constant rain fall like it was yesterday but I do enjoy it.

DuneDragin 10-25-2010 04:15 PM

constant rain yesterday for sure. It was a strong wind that blew in harder rain and snow in the canyon this morning.

I like to watch the snow fall from inside :D

Specta 10-25-2010 10:34 PM

I'm going to cry if I don't get to meet you.

MooseHenden 10-26-2010 07:47 AM

Are you crying? There's no crying in ATVing!

DuneDragin 10-26-2010 11:03 PM

I asked about you at Hoovers today. BLT for lunch w/alvacado...yummy!
Beautiful weather today! ok it's COLD.
took a ride in the canyons, in the snow, in the slush and even found a dusty
trail.
Moose you would be so proud of me...I got covered in MUD!!!!
(it's more fun than I thought it would be)
These last few days, I've encountered every weather riding condition possible.
don't cry sugar....I've already heard "the next time up here...."

You haven't lived until you, a) misjudge the depth of a mud/waterhole, b) don't put your feet up on the top of the front fenders, and c) fill your shoes with melt water. You really know you're alive then.

Specta 10-27-2010 10:07 AM

I haven't given up yet. :D

I'll bet 80% or better of the people who come and ride the Paiute Trail returns and rides again.

The Paiute Trail is not a "challenging" or "hard core" trail system although there are trails and places that without a doubt will test your skills and increase your heart rate. What we have here is 1000's of miles of riding through some breathtaking country and everything from desert to 12,000 ft. Lakes, rivers, wildlife, and everything in-between.

We have a rich mining history in gold, silver, alunite and uranium. Come glow with us.

I love getting to meet the folks who I get to chat with in the different forums when they pass through. If I can I'd love to join in for a ride when anyone comes here too.

If I can ever help with ANYTHING when you do come and visit PLEASE ask me. :D

DuneDragin 10-29-2010 11:52 AM

Specta the trails are great! Some challenges here and there with an abundance of sight seeing! I enjoyed the fall colors! Enjoyed watching the snow fall from inside.
Tues was fantastic riding. Spent about 9 hours on the seat. You could do that day after day after day......
we did have to move on down the road however. (actually up) to Little Sahara/Sand Mountain. Now it's down the road again after I spent yesterday sick with a stomach bug. I'm beginning to recuperate.
Specta it was great to see you on the fly by. Take care.

MooseHenden 10-29-2010 03:26 PM

Glad you're having, a mostly, good vacation DD.

Specta 10-29-2010 11:00 PM

It was great to chat with you on the phone and thank you for coming and visiting us.

My friend and I went to see the frire damage, here's a couple videos. I'll post some pictures of the fire area, these are just part of the ride.

45,000+ acres lost, and they could have stopped it.

You can see the black ash in the stream

I just stirred it up a little. When you would cross a stream the entire stream turned black. It was interesting but sad.

My friend rode his new Polaris 850 EPS Touring and quite likes it.

Specta 10-30-2010 09:02 AM

http://i53.tinypic.com/9h0so7.jpg
My friend thinks that my tires might have been part of the reason I was having a little trouble
climbing up a few of the hills we came across.

http://i51.tinypic.com/149yq0.jpg
He might be right. The back tires have twice as much tread as the front ones. I'll bet
there's a good 1/4" of tread left on the rear tires.

Just another short video.

These are not snow tires, mud tires, all-season tires or even trail tires. These are Done tires. :D

MooseHenden 10-30-2010 02:46 PM

Time for new treads, Specta. Does your buddy have the stock tires on his 850? How does he like them if he does? I've heard a lot of complaints about the Terrathons, especially from people who deal with mud.

Specta 10-30-2010 03:35 PM

I didn't notice what tires it has on it but it's a brand new machine (had maybe 30 miles on when we left) and he had no complaints about the tires. They resemble Carlisle ACTs to me but I never looked to see what they were.

Over all he is really impressed with the machine except for the plastic bushing at the top of the steering shaft that has already loosened and causes the steering shaft to vibrate and rattle.

He says Polaris has cured a lot of ailments with this new 850 Touring and so far he really likes it.

Regardless of what tires he had on they were better than mine. (I was just trying to keep it fair LOL)

It's black and has all the goodies, hand and thumb warmers, hand guards, mirrors, winch and whatever else they come with.

Just a picture from my backyard this morning. It was 32 degrees and absolutely beautiful.

MooseHenden 10-31-2010 03:00 PM

You're truly living the dream, Specta. I guess somebody's got to do it!!! I'm glad it's you!

Specta 10-31-2010 04:35 PM

Thanks Moose, but you know as well as I do you only see what I want you to see, not complaining mind you.

kleinbus 11-07-2010 08:34 PM

We are all individuals, one can't stop hassling around while another stops to sit down on porch and zipp the morning coffee while eyes wonder back and forth from the coffee steam and the view... (all this makes me miss the -20F mornings at Arctic Circle)

We are staying Thanks Giving in Utah so Sunday 11/21 I probably do day trip from Marysvale and I have skiidoo gears so the temperature is never an issue.

Specta, you have good stuff here and keep em' coming...

Specta 11-14-2010 11:06 AM

thanks kleinbus

We got out yesterday for another short ride, it still beats sitting around doing nothing.

http://i51.tinypic.com/2hd5hlj.jpg
Ready to hit the trail. Packed light because we got off to a late start and knew we wouldn't be covering a lot of miles.
I put a radial tire patch inside my puctured sidewall and tubed it, I love these Carlisle ACTs.

http://i51.tinypic.com/2nm3mae.jpg
Looking back at some of the trails we traveled to get here.

http://i56.tinypic.com/4sjts2.jpg
My friend asked; “Kenny, where does this trail go?”
I told him; “up”

http://i56.tinypic.com/2wfplpx.jpg
Off in the distance somewhere is the town of Richfield

http://i51.tinypic.com/359mf0n.jpg
My friend likes riding his new Polaris quite a bit.

We had to stop for refreshments.
