Paiute Trail, Utah

We moved to Marysvale, Utah which is the center of the Paiute Trail in March to open a small business.
Working on our old building doesn't give us as much time to ride as we would like but we do get out a little
so here's a few pics from when we do get to ride.

https://i40.tinypic.com/5jy1c6.jpg
We sold our home in Salt Lake and bought this 37' travel trailer to live in until we decide where we want to
purchase a home. It's just the wife and I so this works great.

https://i42.tinypic.com/313tb1g.jpg
This is just a few miles from home.

Looking back down about 1/2 way up.

The mountain is really red.

https://i41.tinypic.com/qq91dw.jpg
Right in the very center of the picture where the hillside gets a little lighter is where we live.

https://i44.tinypic.com/5w02tt.jpg

It was a nice short ride. I'll post pictures of other trails soon.

thanks for looking.

MooseHenden 05-09-2009 01:10 PM

Wow, I don't like dry climates that much, but I'd sure like to live near those trails. Fantastic scenery. Great photos.

Turfguy 05-09-2009 06:30 PM

Love the pics, keep posting-em. The more pics that I can show the wife like that, the better the chance that we go out there next year for vacation. She thought those were pretty sweet...

Specta 05-09-2009 06:58 PM

Thanks you, I'll post more soon, maybe tonight.

MooseHenden, it's not all desert out here. We are fortunate to have both.

Specta 05-09-2009 09:06 PM

We took this ride last Monday the 4th.

Stuck again. LOL

https://i44.tinypic.com/vi0jo1.jpg
There is still quite a bit of snow here in the upper elevations that reach 12,000 ft.

Specta 05-09-2009 09:18 PM

https://i40.tinypic.com/mj329c.jpg
Marysvale is just out of sight to left of the picture.
The snow covered mountain range in the far background is the Tusher Mountains and Delano Peak is 12173 ft.

On of the biggest gold mines in Utah is in those mountains and was mined back in the early 1840's.
The mountains to the west of Marysvale produced gold and silver.

https://i44.tinypic.com/5w02tt.jpg
The mountains to the east are rich in uranium and the locals refer to the cemetery as "Cancer Hill".

HawkeyeRider 05-09-2009 10:03 PM

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really great photos! Thank you for sharing. Looks like a perfect place to retire to and just RIDE !!! Keep em coming !

Turfguy 05-10-2009 04:36 PM

Great pics and narration of the photos. Will have to show the wife these. Thanks for sharing as always.

When visiting Marysvale and the Paiute Trail this has always been our first choice of where we stay, Moore's Old Pine Inn. mooresoldpineinn.com We'd leave the travel trailer home and stay here, this is without a doubt our favorite vacation location.

The hotel was built in 1882 and has had such famous guest as Butch Cassidy (who was born 25 miles south in Circleville, Utah). Zane Gray wrote Riders of the Purple Sage during one of his extended stays here.

We took this trip July 2008. We left our truck and trailer at the Inn and rode to Bryce Canyon and stayed at Ruby's Inn for one night and then headed back to Marysvale the next day.

https://i35.tinypic.com/2cp9stu.jpg
We took this 2-day ride with our best friends before the other couples arrived in Marysvale a day later than we did.

https://i33.tinypic.com/23mvjbm.jpg
Just some cactus where we took our first break.

https://i38.tinypic.com/122mal0.jpg
This part of Utah is made up of volcanic rock that erupted a long time ago. Utah has 8 volcanoes.

https://i34.tinypic.com/d9vkg.jpg

https://i35.tinypic.com/15nokf9.jpg
This rock looked like a fish with it's mouth open.

https://i33.tinypic.com/34j9c94.jpg
Red, green, and white rock all in the same place.

https://i36.tinypic.com/14dq7fn.jpg
This was the last pic of the first day. I took this one riding on the Paunsaugunt Trail approaching Bryce Canyon.

The first day we traveled 111 miles from Marysvale to Ruby's Inn, it's a spectacular ride. I'll post pics from the ride back including a ride down Casto Canyon hopefully tomorrow, it's getting late.

Thanks for taking time to check them out.

HawkeyeRider 05-11-2009 03:40 AM

We'll be opening our store in the center of Marysvale in a few weeks so we wont be available to guide but we are pretty good at recommending trails and giving direction.

We took the day off from our remodeling and rode one of our favorite trails today, Manning Meadows.

https://i39.tinypic.com/qx9x95.jpg
No UTVs here except for the smaller Razors.

https://i43.tinypic.com/ztew5c.jpg
Time for a pit stop.

https://i39.tinypic.com/dnmry8.jpg
We ate lunch here at Upper Box Creek Reservoir.

https://i43.tinypic.com/scsygy.jpg
On the bottom left of the map where the 01 is (Paiute Trail #01) is about 16 miles from Marysvale and is a good road passable by most vehicles, the first picture shows trail #89 just a few miles past the #01 on the map and is where we the trail started.

From the blue section of #89 to the black (black represents the rougher trails) we turned rright on to #87 and went over to Upper Box Creek Res for lunch.

We returned on #87 back to #89 north to back to #01 (#069). Turned right and headed to #033, turned right onto #033, to #53, to #068 back to #54 and then to #01. Turned left and rode back to Marysvale for a round trip of about 70 miles.

https://i40.tinypic.com/2ik5kkl.jpg
This is #87 leaving the reservoir after lunch headed back to trail #89.

Here's just a few of the ride;

This was coming back into town down Dry Creek Canyon which is trail #02.

It was a perfect day for a ride. It rained yesterday so there was no dust and cooler temps.

papahouse 05-24-2009 11:06 PM

Now you're just being mean showing those trails! LOL

Specta 05-24-2009 11:07 PM

I will post the rest of the pictures from our return ride from Bryce Canyon, just been a bit busy lately.

Thanks for taking the time to check them out.

If I can ever be of any assistance to anyone planning a trip our here please send me a PM, I'll do what ever I can to help make it one of you most memorable trips.

We love it out here and I truly believe this is ATV Heaven.

Thanks,

Kenny

Rocky Ridge Resort, nice place and really nice folks, you should really enjoy your stay.

https://i44.tinypic.com/2ldzoe1.jpg
Our store is on the corner of Bullion Ave (Center Street) and HWY 89 (Main Street).
We might be open by the time you get here but even if we're not stop and see us anyway.

https://i39.tinypic.com/5x96wi.jpg
The trail we rode yesterday had a little snow left in the shadows but not enough to hamper our ride.

Trail #01 from Marysvale across the Tusher Mountain into Circleville is closed until sometime late July due to snow and new born sheep, other than that most everything should be open.

Specta 05-28-2009 11:14 PM

Sorry for the delay in posting pictures from our return trip from Bryce Canyon back to Marysvale.

This is the entrance to Casto Canyon, probably the best part of the entire 230 mile 2 day ride.

This is the other end of the Fremont Trail in Circleville, UT. So far we have traveled roughly 100 miles since we left Ruby's Inn at about 8:00 AM including Casto Canyon that is just over 12 miles round trip. We have about another 25 miles to go to get back to Marysvale and arrived about 5:30 PM.

This was one GREAT ride.

https://i44.tinypic.com/fjnr7a.jpg
Very ATV friendly.

HawkeyeRider 05-29-2009 03:55 AM

Wow.. I'm seriously jealous. Very nice pics THX !!! Noticed the sign for the atv regulations stated that the atv had to be registered in utah to ride on public streets, do you know if they sell temporary permits for out of state vacationers?

Specta 05-29-2009 10:39 AM

Thanks for the compliments.

Here is a link to the list of states that require permits and the second link is the permit request form.

list
Utah State Parks » Off-Highway Vehicles » Out-of-State Registration » Vendors

form
http://static.stateparks.utah.gov/do...pplication.pdf

$30 for one year.

HawkeyeRider 05-30-2009 02:02 AM

Thx for the links, too bad my state doesn't have an agreement. Oh well maybe by the time I actually get to plan a trip they might !! Always gatta look for a silver linning. Besides $30 for a 1 year permit is cheap as far as entertainment purposes go!!

Specta 05-31-2009 11:10 AM

I was told yesterday that there is a 7 day grace period but I have not yet confirmed that, I would hope that is correct.

$30 for 1 year is cheap but what about the family that brings 6 quads and only stays for few days? An extra $180 is too much in my opinion but still cheaper than a lot of other options like disney land.

We took a ride Sunday on Memorial Weekend, the RV parks and hotels were packed. There are soo many trails and 100's of miles that you seldom see others riding.

This coming Wednesday the owners of Moore's Old Pine Inn ( Welcome to Moore's Old Pine Inn and Old West Town, Marysvale, Utah, USA ) is taking us on a trail the goes crosses over Marysvale Peak (close to the peak of 10,781) to Barney Lake and then onto the trail to Upper Box Creek Resevoir that I posted pictures of on the previous page.

Randy told me the trail isn't on the map and know only by the locals and I'm sure the few that have stumbled across it.

Looking forward for that ride.

BMAC 05-31-2009 10:09 PM

Wow Spectra, I've been following this and really enjoying it. Please keep it up!

What kind of a store do you have and how is it coming?

Specta 06-01-2009 10:13 PM

Thanks BMAC,

Ice cream, coffee, pie, souvenirs, ATV trail riding supplies and a few other odds and ends.

Should be open in a couple of weeks.

You're certianly doing a good job of it. I've been on the road for almost a month now..still have about 9 days left. Just about the only thing I've been thinking about is hitting the trails...I think my wife is starting to get annoyed !!! I'll get some pics of my trails as soon as I can. Not as beautiful as the ones you ride, But some are pretty decent.

Specta 06-11-2009 12:48 PM

I'm looking forward to your pictures.

RDusch 06-16-2009 07:51 PM

Spectra, great pics, I'll be heading out to Marysvale in sept, I'll be at lizze and charlies on the 7th staying in the cabins for a couple of weeks.

I posted some pics from past years in my photo albums.

Rick

HawkeyeRider 06-21-2009 12:13 AM

Hello Specta!!! I finally got some pics posted of my favorite trail, desert riding is a stark contrast compaired to those sweet trails you have available to you.

Zac808 07-12-2009 09:18 AM

Great pics. I'm out in Las Vegas and have been really looking into taking a trip up there. I notice you've got utility quads. How would the trails be for a 2wd sport quad? Thanks.
