Riding a 2010 Suzuki 750 KQ up Bullion Canyon today. I really like the white. |
Wow! thanks for posting. We are going to Hurricane UT for the Tri-State Jamboree in March. Hopefully we will get a chance to see some of your area on our way back to Idaho.
Safe riding! |
I don't know if I'd like white when out riding in the snow. Be tough to find you if you go "off trail" accidently. :)

Those are some great pictures!
On my first trip to Paiute in 1996, I stayed at the Marysvale 4 U motel...it was pretty bad, as the beds were so worn out it was like sleeping in a hammock. Since then we have always stayed at the Hampton Inn in Richfield, but if the place you suggest in Marysvale is open/available, we may try there in Sept/Oct My best friend and I ride the Paiute about every 2-3 years. The last time we were there in October 2009 and it was awesome as always...this time I had a Arctic Cat 650 TRV and brought my girlfriend along. We will be coming back this year, and would love to learn more about the trail ride down to Brice. We'll drop in on you and say howdy in 2010 for sure |

Mary bought the Motel 4 U a few years back and completely re-did everything and it's a really nice place to stay, all I hear are compliments. I live at Big Rock Candy Mountain so I naturally recommend staying here but still my favorite is Moore's Old Pine Inn, it's an impeccable B&B and you won’t find a nicer place to stay within hundreds if not thousands of miles. Tell Randy and Katie that Kenny sent you and make your reservations early. |

The sun was out today and it was supposed to hit 40º so we went for a ride. http://i46.tinypic.com/2gtcktd.jpg It was only about 20º when we left home so it was still a bit cold on Lovebug’s’ face so we had to stop so she could add another layer. http://i48.tinypic.com/30usexf.jpg We stopped for lunch and built a small fire; I actually took my coat off because it was soo nice in the sunshine I thought spring was here! http://i45.tinypic.com/ea5a2g.jpg We stopped and took another break. http://i48.tinypic.com/6zucd5.jpg http://i49.tinypic.com/344yrzs.jpg We got some new tires and they seem to cut through the snow pretty good. http://i50.tinypic.com/2rxfuo5.jpg My Lovebug said it was too windy and cold to stay here for a drink. The milk crate on the back was for our firewood. ;) http://i46.tinypic.com/30b012s.jpg Here's one from the other side with Marysvale in the far left background. We had a great ride today, we were long overdue. |
Just did our second snow drive of the winter season last Saturday. Not as picturesque as your ride but it sure was nice to get out. It hit almost 50 degrees on Saturday. Best snow ride we've ever taken! Great pics, per usual, Specta. Keep 'em coming.
|
Thanks Moose, 50 degrees in the snow would be a blast, regardless of the scenery.
|
We had gone out 2 weeks earlier and it was 20 degrees with snow blowing hard. I had brake problems (large problems) on the GMC when we were just about there. We rode for a few hours and got pretty chilled. My son, who never complains about cold, wanted to get in the truck and turn on the heated seats, so we headed home so I could get the brakes looked at. I wasn't reluctant about heading home. It was the first time that my throttle thumb felt like it was going to fall off from being numb. Still fun!
|
sorry to hear about the brake proble.
I think my throttle thumb has fell off a couple of times. |

I took this picture on our ride Saturday. The area circled in red is Big Rock Candy Mountain, that's where we live. You can see HWY 89; Big Rock is 5 miles north of Marysvale. Next to the HWY is the Sevier River and next to the river is the old rail road bed, that's now the ATV trail that I ride during the summer going to Marysvale every day going to work. |
Do you get enough snow to worry about avalanches? It looks like the kind of spot for it. Usually areas that don't have trees on mountainsides out here in New England are avalanche prone. Smaller scale than out in the Rockies. The truck problem was the plates that hold on the rear brake hardware. One failed when I jammed on the brakes. The other was ready to go. $1250 later. I will not be buying another GM product after this one.
|
Avalanches could be a problem in the higher mountans but not where we can ride during the winter.
I see plenty of smaller slide areas during the summer where an avalanche wipes out a bunch of trees but they never seem to be a problem for people. That sucks about your brakes. |
The truck has never stranded me, but has cost me around 8-9K or non-maintenance issues. I spend a couple grand each year repairing things that go wrong.
|
Doesn't matter what brand of truck folks have, I hate seeing them have problem after problem with them.
The only truck I have right now I bought new 31 years ago. LOL |

4" of fresh snow last night, it's a beautiful day. |
http://i47.tinypic.com/23wl6qp.jpg
We got about 4-5" of snow last night, we need it bad. http://i46.tinypic.com/4tqdc6.jpg this is where I go for my WiFi and a nice cup of coffee. |
Specta,
You continue to make me jealous with your 11,000 miles and daily riding adventures. The only thing I have done with my quads in the last 2 months is start-em every few weeks and run down the alley to put some fresh fuel through em. I need a job in the country somewhere. This city liv-in is killing me. Great pics as always TG |
Thanks TG, getting out of the city was the best thing we ever did, moving here was second.
Just a few pics from yesterdays ride. http://i49.tinypic.com/55jjth.jpg Doug and my better half. http://i50.tinypic.com/vdclg2.jpg http://i48.tinypic.com/15x0fir.jpg I was impressed that we were able to get through the snow as deep as it was. http://i48.tinypic.com/5bo97b.jpg http://i47.tinypic.com/1565x6g.jpg http://i45.tinypic.com/rl9vkk.jpg As usual the views were spectacular. |
A few more from yesterdays ride.
http://i49.tinypic.com/14t36me.jpg It was a cold 20º when we pulled out this morning. http://i49.tinypic.com/209kd1g.jpg Doug came with us today and his wife packed him a nice lunch in his favorite lunch bag. http://i49.tinypic.com/ekkxls.jpg And we had totties with our lunch too. http://i49.tinypic.com/2wp002t.jpg The snow was DEEP!! Doug's 2010 Suzuki 750 KQ was impressive. I have ridden this one a few times and really like it. http://i46.tinypic.com/23jmu79.jpg REALLY DEEP!!!!!! I am VERY impressed with my new Carlisle ACT tires. http://i48.tinypic.com/15prc0h.jpg We had a great time. |
http://i46.tinypic.com/fc2zgk.jpg
I really like this old ATV. |
Man, looks like a great ride once again. It's raining up here in New England today. I'd rather see snow for another winter ride. I'm hooked on winter riding too!
|
Great pics as always. Wish i could have joined you. Raining here in Chicago as well. I haven't even got to put on the snow plow yet. That at least gives me a little seat time.
|

Thanks you guys, we'd love to ride with all of you. We own a small business in Marysvale so we don't get out much during the summer but we free up a lot in the fall. We would be more than happy to point you in the right direction to get to some of our favorite trails that whether they are on the map or not. The Paiute Trail has several trails that are limited to 50" so the only sidexside that fits is the small RZR, the rest can't fit through the gates. |

It was such a beautiful day today that we decided to ride the ATV in to town to pick up our mail. :D http://i48.tinypic.com/20h54s8.jpg I took this one from the ATV bridge crossing the river here at Big Rock. http://i46.tinypic.com/n3azko.jpg Heres a look at Marysvale under snow. http://i49.tinypic.com/1zgfeo1.jpg We took a side trail into town, I didn't think that we would make it up this one. :o http://i45.tinypic.com/2qnabec.jpg There was a drift at the top and it took a few tries to get through it. http://i49.tinypic.com/2qitwfa.jpg Here's the old bridge into Marysvale. http://i50.tinypic.com/1zo97yr.jpg The old bridge is showing signs of its age. :( http://i47.tinypic.com/jsf6ad.jpg Here's a little canyon that we decided to go up instead of taking the usual way home. http://i49.tinypic.com/25012y0.jpg It's a neat little canyon and not well traveled. http://i49.tinypic.com/2ez5r8j.jpg We are just about out of the canyon. It was a nice but sort ride today, just under 22 miles. ;) :) |

Paiute County is the smallest county in Utah and we have over 3500 miles of ATV trails. |
You been "enticing" me for over a year. I think it has now moved into "tease". Great pics as always. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the compliment on the pics, I'm sure you know that I'm trying to entice you to come and visit the Paiute Trail.
Paiute County is the smallest county in Utah and we have over 3500 miles of ATV trails. Therefor, I will stick to PA and Ohio and HOPEFULLY the Hatfield McCoy trails! That is, if I can find any people to go with me. Still, AWESOME pics! Keep em comin'! |
I'd start a thread and ask, I see folks here all the time talking about riding the Hatfield McCoy trials.
I'm sure there are other members who would love for you to join them.

Despite how much I would love to make it out there (which maybe down the road a few years), it would be 1 day, 8 hours of straight driving :( .
