Default Arapeen Trai

We took a nine day trip and spent the first 3 days riding the Fillmore Loop section of the Paiute
Trail before heading out over the mountain to spend another 4-5 days riding the Arapeen Trails.
We had a great time.

Fillmore Loop & Arapeen Trails
Our 9 day adventure

Day 1 Sept 17th, 2005

KOA Camp Ground in Fillmore Utah, this was the first time that we ever stayed in a camp ground,
we much prefer boondocking.
We needed to stay someplace so we could refill our fresh water supply and recharge our
batteries before spending another 4-5 days boondocking near Ferron Reservoir.

Being late Sept the camp ground was pretty empty, these were the only other guests.

My favorite picture from the Fillmore Loop Trail.

The Devils Arm Chair

It’s always a little windy on top.

This side trail followed the creek for quite a while, it was a great ride.

There was a small fire on one of the side hills; we stopped and watched this helicopter for a
while.

Back on the trail.

And day one comes to a close, back at camp and ready for dinner.

Thanks Moose.

Day 2

Today’s route; Trail #06 south along I-15 from Fillmore to Meadow and then on to Kanosh.
Cut off #06 to #15 and then from #15 to #13 and then the Fremont Indian Museum.
The route home was north on trail #01 to #10 to #11 back to #01 and then back to Fillmore via Fillmore Loop 03.

Our morning cup of coffee; coffee cups courtesy of Honda Motor Company of America.

Paiute Trail 06 follows I-15 from Fillmore through 2 small towns.

Paiute Side Trail (PST) 15 passing under I-70.

PST 13

Lunch.

The Fremont Indian Museum is on the other side of I-70 from where we ate lunch.

If you ever visit the Paiute Trail the Fremont Indian Museum is a must see.

From where we ate lunch this section of the Paiute Trail 01 heads south to Marysvale.

We headed north on #01 after visiting the museum, for about the 5th time.

Headed west into the sunset on #03 and almost back to camp.

Here’s our days ride; Fillmore is the town at the very top of the map.
Take extra gas and leave early, this one was 109 miles.

Specta you have to be the luckiest man to throw a leg over a machine. Thanks for sharing your travels and giving me a reason to look forward to retirement.

Thanks voodoo, I'm looking forward to retiring too.

I still have a few days worth of riding to add to this trip. I'll try to get more up tomorrow.

Day 3

We just took a short ride today.

We take Bonzai camping but not riding. This is how he prefers spending his days.

My wife caught this little horned lizard along the way.

People counters.

Without a doubt fall is my favorite time to ride.

We went south to Corn Creek Canyon looking for an old gold mine, we never did find it.

Mullen, it was used in medicines to treat coughs and sore throats back in the olden days.

Sorry there are not a lot of trail pics this time, more to follow.

We did stop for refreshments.

Day 4

Day four we never went for a ride but rather went into Fillmore
which was actually the “first” capitol city of Utah. This was the first
of 4 wings before they moved the seat to Salt Lake City and construction
came to an end.

Just a little history.

The weather changed and we took a tour back in time through the museum.

We did our laundry at the camp ground, filled our fresh water tanks, bought more ice,
groceries, loaded the truck and prepared for tomorrows trip to Ferron Reservoir.

Bonzai was resting up for the big drive tomorrow.

Day 5

We left early and headed south on I-15, east on I-70 and north on HWY 10 and then
west 25 miles up Ferron Canyon.

It rained most of the day, from the Fillmore KOA to Ferron Reservoir if I remember
right is about 125 miles, maybe a little more. Ferron Canyon is really a beautiful drive.

The rain left a lot of mud behind, I'm glad we took the 4-wd PU.

And fall is in the air.

We have friends arriving from Salt Lake tonight and we will hit the Arapeen Trail first
thing tomorrow morning.
