Default ATV Ban

I live in Ogden, NY. The following is an quote from the proposed ban being voted on Wed. 5-27-09...

"It shall be unlawful to operate or for the owner to permit the operation of any
type of motor-driven vehicles or conveyances, including but not limited to twowheeled
vehicles known as “minibikes,” trailbikes” and “motorcycles,” three or
four-wheeled vehicles known as “ATV’s” or ATC’s” or the like and fourwheeled
motor vehicles known as “go-carts” and “no-wheeled vehicles,” such
as but not limited to snowmobiles and limited-use vehicles as defined in Article
1 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law, under the following circumstances."

I wont be able to use my atv to hunt or plow my driveway with anymore!

So it would be illegal to operate on your own property? That doesnt seem right. Man what a way to help the down economy. Just basically streamline the downfall of any dealer in ur area

Yea sounds like the wording of the law is not correct. So does that mean you couldn't cut your grass with a ride-on lawn mower?

Regards,

Thats a bunch of crap! I'd be buying a dual purpose motorcycle and have it licensed by the state of NY and then if they gave me a ticket it would be going to the state judicial system to be resolved!
How many people live in Ogden anyway? What is their major beef with offroad vehicles? How many dealers would be put under or even slightly hurt by such a socialistic piece of sh** law?
Try that where I live and folks would be threatening violence!

New York state is pretty much a socialist republic, FYI, and there aren't that many people in Ogden. It is maybe 20-30 minutes west of Rochester NY, and about an hour east from me. And more rural than the town I live in, and we ride our quads to the gas station, right by the deputies, and nobody minds as long as you don't act like an idiot. But this proposal is about more than quads. I'm leaving this place as soon as my daughters graduate high school. I love the 4 seasons, the different terrains, the amazing food. The great fishing, deer and turkey hunting. My family has a very long history here, and the local and state governments are driving me and my wife away (and others, in droves). It's crappy.
