Default Need Utility ATV advice

Hey folks,

Need some advice here. New to this forum and ATV's in general. We just aquired 3 acres here in Iowa and I am needing a utility ATV. Mainly for a few chores, yard work and snow plowing in the winter. Been looking at a few brands and am kinda overwhelmed. I KNOW i really don't need powersteering, would like a winch with the snow blade. Might do some hunting later on but is not a necessary thing for purchase right now.

Got 1 quote here from a dealer who has Suzuki, Polaris, Yamaha, and Kawasaki. He was really pushing hard on the Suzuki and never really said anything else about the other brands (kinda suspicious he is trying to sell off these things). Anyways here is his quote:

2008 King Quad (Had 4 of these left yet, brand new)
Winch and blade installed (winch name started with a W if I remember right)
$7695 plus T&L

What you think of this deal? Are Suzuki's good atv's? What are good name brand ATV's? I really would like something that is rugged and fairly bullet proof. Any and all advice welcomed!

Rax

suzuki is a very reliable quad and would most likely be my first choice, but the question I have is what size is it? 400 SRA, 450 AXI, 500 AXI or the 750 AXI

He should have showed you all the brands and let you decide tho. Maybe suzuki is giving a little better commission. I'm no pro tho.

Right now the Suzuki King Quad is the best bang for the buck. They seem to be priced lower than quads that may have a couple more features. One I think you should consider is the Polaris Sportsman X2. It has a dump body that converts to a second seat in 10 seconds. The rear suspension holds 400 lbs. And it's got a great storage box under the front rack. The X2 will do chores like no other. I've got 1500 abusive miles on my machine without an issue. I haul firewood up and down steep hills in NH and VT, have towed an industrial sized woodchipper without a problem, have ridden 1 or 2 up, up and down rocky hills and through deep mud and water. This includes my weight at 350 and a passenger at 200. Another nice feature is a large, 6 gallon gas tank. I have a bad disk and the ride of a Polaris is the most comfortable. I mostly use it for chores but haven't got a plow yet.

That being said, the Suzuki King Quad, Yamaha Grizzly, and Kawasaki Brute Force are all great quads. Suzuki is best bargain right now, Yamaha is a good all around machine, and the Brute Force has the best looks and a great engine to back it up.

pretty good price quote for that setup, and suzuki will not let you down. i personally would make sure it's got the optional pull-start.

Why, I doubt you can pull start a 750 single anyways,it takes two of us on the rope to pull over a 660 Grizzly and when it back kicks it rips the rope out of your hand and it hurts.LOL

Suzuki sounds good it has all the features. True AWD diff lock,IRS,high ground clearance,EFI,Low range, disc brakes (All round) and big Power. Whats not to like?

I like Suzuki just fine.....but anyone here think that a 750 is overkill?

Ive got a friend that fences and farms for a living.....he uses his wheelers hard every day doing all kinds of things in all kinds of terrain....hes got a 500cc machine and says hes never lacking for power or traction.

Im sure there are plenty of jobs that require a bigger machine....but a few chores, some yard work and snow plowing doesnt sound like them.

Id say save some cash and go with less motor. My uncle Dave plows a TON of snow every year with a 330cc Polaris 4x4 and another friend just tosses some chains on his 250cc 2wd wheeler.
