Default buying first quad

Hello, I am going to be buying a used 4 wheeler. I just need to know what kind of 4x4 quads I can get that are manual transmissions. It seems all the 4x4's are automatic now. I will be buying one in the $4k price range and will be using it for plowing the driveway and riding trails behind my house. My main goal is to either find a decent one with clutchless manual or fully manual with a clutch. I know the honda foreman comes in clutchless manual and that seems to be my pick at the moment. Anyone know of anything that's manual 4x4?

Thanks in advance!

I could plow the driveway with a 2 wheel drive machine? Will any ATV be able to have a plow installed? I can find tons of ATV's in manual that are 2 wheel drive.

Yeah, lots of people do plenty of plowing with a 2wd wheeler.

My buddy plows 5 to 6 driveways every snow with an older 300cc 2wd Honda Foutrax. It works great with average snow.....but it snowed 14 to 16 inches here the other day (with some big drifts, had 40mph winds right after that) and he had to work a little harder to get it done, still did it though. Tire chains are $50 and really help......and if that doesnt get it done you can always put a little way on the rear rack.

My 2wd 200cc Honda Fourtrax goes damn good in the snow really, although Ive never pushed snow with it. I was running all over the yard in that 14 to 16 inches of snow without any real problem - even the drifts as high as 2ft werent much of a problem. Just lean back and put a little weight on the rear end.....lots of fun.

Dont get me wrong, 4wd is superior.....but its not necessary in most cases.

Check out a used Suzuki Eiger/King Quad 400 (same mechanicals, different body plastic between the Eiger & KQ400).

Proven tough & reliable, easy to maintain, and 4wd. A one or two year old would be in your price range, and with rebates/incentives, you may be able to come very close to a new one.

When I purchased my KQ Nov08, Suzuki was running a free Warn winch or Warn plow promotion, and I believe they were doing it again this year.

I'd also recommend a Foreman. You could get by with 2wd, but IMHO if you can swing a 4x4 that is in good shape...

Suzuki 400 Eiger comes in both auto and manual, as does the 500 Vinson. I think Artic Cat still offers their 500 manual as well.
