Default winch question

I bought a used ATV this week and the night I brought it to the house the winch died. The winch worked fine when I inspected the ATV but died the second time I hit the button at the house.

The seller has very generously agreed to pay for a new motor...which looks to run about $150 bucks. I got to thinking that I might be better off taking the $150 and applying it toward the purchase of a newer and better sealed winch like the RT25.

The money makes perfect sense...and the RT25 seems to get great reviews. What are your thoughts?

At I stated in your other post the RT and the XT are the same winch just that the XT has synthetic rope instead of cable and it is deffenetly worth the extra coin if you can afford it. When it comes to winches you get what you pay for and I would either get a Warn or A Ramsey and not think twice about it. The Warn XT3.0 and I believe the Ramsey 3000 both come with wireless remotes too if that helps any.

You are going to get allot of guys on here who swear by the cheaper winches but if you do you research you will find there are far more disappointments with them than good ones and IMHO this is the last thing you want to go cheep on as just when you need your winch the most you don't need it to fail!

I'm definately sold on Warn. I've had enough friends that use them to know they are good gear. Essentially I'll be able to buy a new RT25 for $150. Seems like a slam dunk.

Can't go wrong by doing it right. I would rather spend a little more now just for having a little piece of mind and instead of spending more on a second one latter.

Just ordered it. Not sure if the RT25 will fit on the mounting bracket for the 2.5ci. Will have to call them tomorrow and see if I need to order that too. This will be a nice upgrade for the machine. I think I'll have much more piece of mind with a more sealed unit than the one that just broke.
