Default Preventing ATV Theft - Which Lock(s)

I just purchased a new ATV which I plan on storing in a simple wood shed at a cottage. The location is well lit and has year-round neighbours but I am still paranoid. What products do you guys recommend to lock up and secure my investment until I get a better storage structure lined up?

Please provide URLs if possible. Thanks in advance.

I would get a hardened cable. Put one end down in a hole and put concrete so only the other end is sticking up. I'd wrap it through some part of the quad that is hard to take off and loop it back on itself and get a big strong padlock. Something like this: Master Lock. 5/8in. Cable — 6ft | Cable Locks | Northern Tool + Equipment

Moose has the right idea!

I attach a cable to my machines when they are in the trailer - If anyone wants the ATV they have to work extra on the cable that is looped through the frame to the frame of the trailer.

In a remote shed in the woods add a level of security... make noise!

Thieves hate noise! Attach a loud siren to the cable/ATV/ door, with an independent battery. If they start messing with the ATV or cable the siren goes off, scares the thief & attracts the neighbours. At the very least it'll deafen the guy or give him a heart attack! (we can only wish)

Good Luck!

Is there a place in the cottage itself you can store the tires?

It's kind of a pain for you, but they'd be a lot less likely to steal it if they had to drag it any distance.

That along with locks would be my bet. But if they want it bad enough, nothing will stop them. There is a member on here that has had 5 stolen from him, and all were locked.

Might be worth it to ask one of the neighbors for a spot at there house (garage) until proper storage can be made. IMO if they can't take it,they might strip it.

Put theft Insurance on it is the best method.
