Default Need help with a stuck motor bolt.

I've got a Yamaha Blaster and we were taking the motor out. Well the bolt that goes through the frame, swing arm, and motor will not come out. It seems like it is free. The bolt will spin freely with a ratchet. We've tried pounding on it and only managed to get it out about 1". After that i even put a slide hammer on the head of the bolt and pounded on it that way and it wouldn't budge. Next i tried spinning it with an impact wrench to see if spinning it at high speeds would free it.. Nothing, it just spins. Maybe its slightly bent? Any ideas about what to do?

Any idea will be greatly appreciated.

Try using a second set of hands to move the motor to see if it gives enough play to back it out. Support under the swingarm with a jack also. They can be tricky.

Yea they definitely can be. There was two of us working on it and we took every bit of tension off of it we could. we even took of the rear axle and the shock so it was just the swing arm itself left. We had this 4 wheeler laying on it side... even sitting on its nose.

Sounds like no fun at all. Do you have a repair manual? Might be a trick to getting it out. Otherwise talk to a service tech at the dealer. They are usually pretty good about giving tips.

Well i don't have a repair manual. But i don't see how there could be a trick you know.. It's basically just a bolt through a hole. lol But its a good idea.. maybe there is somehow. I may try to call a Yamaha dealer though that's a good idea.

I'm thinking because it's a rubber motor mount the heat being generated by spinning it may be causing it to really stick. Maybe some wd-40 and a trusty hammer and punch or smaller dia bolt might do the trick.

I see what you mean about the heat but the impact was the last thing we tried. And I've already tried hitting it as hard as I could with a hammer and punch. This is definitely a weird situation lol
