ATV Death Brings Attention To Shortfall In Law - Greenville News Story - WYFF Greenville

News clip from the Upstate of South Carolina.

I'm not sure if a helmet alone would have saved this young person. The article describes blunt force trauma to both the head and chest as the cause of death. It's just terrible. I'm heartbroken for the girl and the family.

I am sorry for the family and what happened and sorry if I come across "cold hearted" but here is my question people want laws for mandentory training or helmets or age limits or whatever it dont matter what laws are in place if THE RESPONSIBLE ADULTS DONT ENFORCE THEM the adults in control of the equipment are the ones that FAIL to endorce the proper safety and training

I've seen kids that went through safety class that drove like they didn't. Whether or not this young kid did I agree that the parents at the party should have been responsible enough not to let anyone ride if they didn't know about riding experience. Any kids that want to learn how to ride with our group have to go through safety class or show they now how to ride a machine with adults monitoring them. The trouble almost always starts when they get out of sight. It's sad to have to bury your child. I can't even imagine the grief...

I would bet the parents that threw the party and allowed kids to ride the ATV are getting sued big time.

My kids friends can only ride the ATV if their parents are present. So far no one has.
