Just wandering what this forum is used for? I'm hoping it's to talk about gear for the trails. Whether its attached accessories, electronics, riding gear or what not. Hope to get good insight...

We just returned from a three day trail ride in the mountains. I'll just mention some of the gear we had with us. We had three ATVs, a Can Am Outlander 800, a Can Am Renegade 800, and a Yamaha YFZ 450. Only one of the ATVs had racks, so storage space was limited. We carried a flat 3.5 gallon gas can with spare fuel on the rear rack, and we had a soft fabric (camo) storage bag attached to the front rack. In the storage bag we carried our food, water, rain gear, a tow strap, tools, tire repair kit, an air compressor, and toilet paper. All three ATVs had GPS units as well. We use the Rino 530 HCx, by Garmin. I like this GPS unit because it has a feature that lets you see where the other Rino 530 users are at. We got separated a few times, briefly, and all I had to do is use the "poll" feature to locate the other two ATVs on my GPS. I knew instantly how far behind they were on the trail. And on one occaision we noticed that our son had taken a wrong turn on his YFZ, and we sent the Renegade back after him before we got too separated.

I was real glad we had the rain gear, because we had to ride for 70 miles in a pouring down rain to get back to the truck one day. And after all that rain I was glad we had the tow strap with us. The YFZ 450 had a very good rider on board, but still got stuck badly enough to need the tow strap 8 times.

Great idea on the CO2 inflator. Never would've thought of that one. Had a plug in compressor for awhile, but dirt and water don't really go well with them. Buddy of mine used a real nice bicycle pump, but it was a little big for me. Thought about looking for a compact version. BUT I really like the CO2 inflator. How has it worked for you?
