Default I am new to this

I need help on what to buy and where to ride. Is there enough places to ride to justify buying an atv?

A good place to start when posting questions like this...where do you live (helps to give riding areas.) Do you have friends that ride, or are you riding by yourself (most people are more apt to ride if a friend rides too.) What type of riding would you be interested in doing (Dunes, wooded trails?) How far are you willing to travel to ride (is an hour too far or are you ok with 4 hour drive?)Obviously some areas of our great country have more riding areas than others...your location would be the best bet for getting info on riding areas! If you are just getting into riding buy something cheap/used to see if you actually use it...I bought a 95 wolverine for 1500 bucks about six years ago when I was just getting into riding to make sure I would use it...sold the quad for 1500 a month ago! Once I knew I would use the quad, I bought new in 08 (and selling that now..2225 miles) and bought new again in the middle of July of this year (500 miles on that)...I have spent progressively more money each time...but can justify it by actually using the quad and spending the riding time with my brother and dad!

You can post a question in the where to ride section to get local opinions on trails. The kind of ATV you get will depend on what the trails are like. Most of the people I ride with have utility quads like Sportsmans and Grizzlys but there are a few sport quads in the group too. You should probably get a 4x4 if you want to ride in mud and a sport quad if you just want to go fast.

You can always get a 2up model, that way the wife can join you.
