I just wear lots of warm clothes and carry an extra pair of gloves in case the first pair gets wet.

If riding in the bush I always carry a chainsaw and extra gas for it, comes in handy incase the trail is blocked or if you have to spend the night for whatever reason, nothing like a fire to keep you warm.

Carry one of those micro stoves, lighter, and extra fuel along with something like soup , or water for hot chocolate. Extra gloves and wear winter coat and flannel lined jeans. Full face helmet keeps the cold off your face and head along with a balaclava for neck and chin (or in my case double chin). Winches are a good thing to have too.

In addition to the multi-chin (patent pending), I've got shoulders that go up to my ears. I just take an average sized person's jacket and wrap it around my neck. (So the legend grows)

Laytex gloves for under the winter gloves (save the dr. jelly finger jokes). They keep your hands dry when your winter gloves get wet and they act as a windbreaker. Try it you'll see.
