Default dirt bike xr100 question

I know this is an ATV forum but figured the principle is the same...I have a stepson that has a XR100 honda dirtbike (4 stroke) and wants to get abit more speed out of it...as much as I know about most CV carbs ya cannot/should not mess with the exhaust unless you are prepared to mess with the carb.
What can we do to help the speed of this machine? exhaust, jet kit, ...??? I know an ignition module isn't needed (lol) like a Power Commander on my harley or street fuel injected machines but any ideas would be a help...its mainly a woods bike so his idea of break neck speed is unnecessary but you know how kids can be..faster faster faster !!!!!

On the down low even if it "seemed" like we did something to make it go faster...like high speed bumper bolts, upgraded the knewter valve, or changed the headlight fluid.
