If you are buying new, I would look at the Big Bear. Simple, tough, and durable. MSRP on the camo model is a hair under 7K. Looks like it is being discontinued for 2013. The alternative would be the 450 auto. If used is an option it is really wide open as you should be able to find most models in your price range. Generally for just hunting you don't need the biggest, baddest machine out there. In the '80s we all used 250cc and under machines and did just fine.

Second on the big bear, I love mine. I really hope they aren't going to discontinue them any time soon though.

I know you said you want a Yamaha, but being on a budget I would recommend you take a look at a Polaris Sportsman 500. It's the best selling ATV in the history of ATVs, and for good reason. I really don't think there's a better value out there. You can get a Sportsman 500, plus add a winch and/or other accessories and still come in well under your $7K price limit.

a kawasaki brute force is a great 4 wheeler, its 4x4, fairly big, good for hauling things around, but they also have enough power to have fun mudding or trail riding.. all around great 4 wheeler... however you wont find a new one for under $7000 but im sure u could find a great new one for that much. or ask around at your dealerships and see if they can find a older model but still new.

For under 7k, you could get a good used Grizzly 700 EFI, maybe even with EPS, or a 550 Grizzly, same quad, smaller engine. Then they move down to the 450 and 400, engine and drivetrain is a little different, but still has the same Ultramatic belt drive, very reliable and easy to work on. With a budget like yours, your options are pretty wide open.
