Default Why do ATVs do not get the big power?

The Big bore ATV like 850 and 1000 only make 70-80hp,but the same manufacturers put much higher powered 4 stroke motors in there Sleds and PWC.

Example ,Yamaha has a 65hp 4stroke 600 twin in there sled.
Polaris Has a 145hp 4stroke 750 twin in there Sled and PWC, but there 850 ATV only makes 70hp.

Arctic Cats 1000 ATV makes 80hp while there 1000 4stroke sled makes 150hp.

I think they tame ATVs down do to law suits because they have no place to hit high speed safely like Sleds and PWC like frozen lakes or open water.

Sleds are going over a smoother surface and are more stable than a quad.

Agree on the lawsuits part.

Id love to see a Suzuki come from the dealer powered by a gsxr 600 or 1000cc, or a r1 raptor.i dont understand how people could sue whoever made the quad because its too fast? ive never heard of them getting sued over the sportbikes that will go 180+mph

I understand large heavier 4 cylinder motorcycles engines being a different animal, but the sled motors are lighter twins and with the same dimensions, weight and CVT drive as a ATV but with much more power.

Instead of ATVs coming out with larger motors why not just make there existing displacement motors push 40% more power like there sleds and PCW do reliably?

If Polaris put there Weber 750 4stroke twin CVT motor it has in its "SwitchBack" Snowmobile into a ATV it would smoke any 1000 ATV currently made.

Im not real familiar with the snowmobile engine swaps but they deffinitley need to have a sport quad that is trail ready with atleast 90 hp stock.

Here is a video of a Guy who put a 700 Poolais XC sled motor in his Srambler its a 2 stroke rated at 120hp.

Polaris would be sued if they made these

Here the power Polaris gives sleds and open water accually slows them down.

I could be way off base but I dont think the average rider wants or needs a machine that will go over 100mph.

thats true for sure but the average sportbike rider doesnt need a bike that goes 150+ the average driver doesnt need a 500+hp gt500 or corvette zr1 but they make them for the speed enthusiast. The thing is they cater to the racers with the 450's that are race ready basically and cater to the mud guys with the big can am's,grizzlys but they quit making the quads that are actually fast(quad zilla and banshee)....btw those snowmobile swap quads are nasty. Are they any easier or harder to swap then the sportbike engines? does anyone know of a website that is geared toward the snow mobile/sportbike swapped quads? i cant find very many for sale.
