Does anyone think the head master mechanic at MMI (who also rides quads) would have the same knowledge and know how of those people at places such as Walsh Racecraft and places like that

I'm hoping so cuz Walsh racecraft quoted me $8500 for what I want done to my YFZ 450 but my buddies good family friend (the master machanic at MMI) says he can do it for half that but a little weary if it will be the same quality and reliable

Used to be years ago at the tech school I went to, the auto department would work on cars and only charge for parts. The instructor would monitor all work done to make sure it was correct. Students learned hands on repair and if you were one of the lucky ones they picked, you got the work done for about half the price it would normally cost.

Did you ask if he was doing the work or was it a class repair? Not a bad thing, just something you might want to know beforehand. And also what types of warranties would come with either repair shop.

Good luck!

It would be the head master mechanic the instructor.. He's rich and doesn't do it for the money, he is a member of our family church and just does it out of pleasure and barely charges for basically only parts and does it on his free time at home... Also he is the head mechanic instructor of MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute) not the car place .... So he does it himself at his house (he has worked on my friends quads and dirt bikes for close to free and did a great job) but it isn't gonna come with any type of warranty or nothin I don't think, but from what I know about him he is a humble honest man who just loves his work and loves to work on these things on his free time

Well, I can't believe I did it but basically got a bran new engine, the whole motor was shot, didn't even want to salvage any parts so I just ordered all and every part needed to build an entirely bran new motor (because yamaha doesn't sell fully built new motors) just the parts to build one so that's what I did, so it was a little costly but in reality I pretty much have a bran new quad, even got the updated oil system, I also had it ported and polished, put full HMF compitition series exhaust, FCI, jetting, and tires, so yea, bran new with mods YFZ!! Gotta wait on suspension till winter, that's my riding season anyway so I don't need it right now especially for $3000+ just for suspension when I just spent $5000+... I will never buy a used quad again
