There are good goggles and there are cheap goggles. I've had both. You can get a good pair at a decent price if you don't mind buying last years style. Places like Dennis Kirk, Rocky Mountain ATV and Motorcycle Supertore are places to go and check out the clearance section.

I'll warn you that cheap ones scratch easily and didn't last me much time at all. I waited and got a pair of good ones for my birthday and was much happier. Cheap tear away's on a good set will protect your lenses and even the lenses are replaceable. They will save money in the long run.

But, in the mean time. For a cheap pair go to your local industrial supply store. I get my sunglasses sold as "Saftey glasses" from there. 5 bucks and my favorite pair I've ever had. You may be able to find some tinted goggles on the cheap from one of those stores.

I ended up getting some Scott goggles. Hopefully they are good enough to last longer than cheap ones. I didn't really want to drop $100 on Oakleys.

I've been wearing Scott goggles for years. When they get old the foam starts to crumble apart, just like it did on my other goggles. I guess they all do that when they're old. Now I keep getting the same kind and I save my old goggles in case I need a new lens or strap.

How easy do the lenses scratch? I go to the dunes and drag race and inevitably someone sprays sand in my face. I know better than to wipe the sand off the goggles with a dry cloth at that point but just wondering how long they will stay un-scratched.

You can try knocking the sand off. I wipe fine dust off with my T-shirt and haven't scratched a lens yet. If I do, I have extra lenses. When it's really dirty I have to wash it.
