I'm back
Got the carb gaskets,a new oem fuel line from the carbs to the fuel valve, adjusted the fuel screws (ended up basically where I was before on the settings) and synchronized the carbs with my old dependable Motion Pro mercury carb stick which replacement mercury is NLA. Funny thing is that even when stone cold it will crank and idle with very little choke applied. Warms up faster than ever, plus anyone that's ever had one knows they are a very cold natured oil cooled inline 4.Think I found out why at least on mine the difference now. I didn't install a new stone filter on the new fuel line, didn't want to cut it,just relying on the tank filter. Before it would take forever on choke, sometimes had to drive off with it on a tad until well warmed up. As much a fan as I am of the Visufilter stone filters,I think by having the vacuum operated fuel valve only and not a fuel pump too,it was actually restricting fuel flow past it into the carbs. I've heard this years ago by some old techs on the Visufilter, but kinda believe it now. Just food for thought for people with vacuum petcock machines..But I still hate pleated paper fuel filters..
