Default New Quad - what must-have mods do I need?

Hey Guys,

Just purchased a 2014 Honda TRX400X. Just wondering what must-have mods should I get? Specifically do I need nerf bars, skid plate, bumper, etc?

Also should I get OEM honda or aftermarket?

I mainly ride through trails in the woods.

If you want to work on the motor i would say jet kits is the easiest thing you can do. other than that i would put on nerf bars, billet alluminum cap, yoshimura pipe, pro taper handlebars, and switch the gear ratio toa quicker setup.

Upgrade the swing arm skid to a sturdy aftermarket unit like armadillo or prm. After that I would look to address any areas of concern you see. Handlebars can add to comfort. Nerf bars are nice to keep your feet out of the rear wheels, but not necessarily needed with the heel guards on a stock machine. Stock bumpers fold like a cheap wallet. Upgrading to quality aftermarket will provide protection to the front of your frame. I would say one of the first things you may need to change will be tires, depending on riding location and conditions.
