Ball park ATV dealer markups?

There is another dealer who has an out the door price of $5720 for a 450 HO and $6263 for the 570. They are about 3 1/2 hours away so once I am ready to pull the trigger I am hoping the local dealer can get close to this price. I would much rather deal with them. If they can get in the ball park I will use the local dealer. I still have not made my mind up 100% which machine I am going to get.

That dealer in Tennessee that has those super low prices on Polaris quads is about 3 hours away from me too. My local dealer isn't that far off though and they're only about 30 miles away. I don't think they would match their prices but I think they would get close enough. I'd rather drive 30 miles to deal with a problem than 180 miles.

Is that the one in Union City (or something like that). I looked on their website the other day but the only prices I saw was MSRP which were same as everyone else. I had heard about them and was curious how cheap they were. They are 6 hours or more from me so it would have to be a huge savings to take that road trip.

Yeah, thats the one. Abernathy's Cycle in Union City, TN. The price they had listed for the 450 HO for example, was also $4999. Their prices aren't as low as they used to be. At one time, the Sportsman 570 without eps were selling for as low as $4800 before fees. Now they are $5499, which is about what my local dealers are selling them for. The Ace 570 is $6499 which is about what my local dealer sells them for as well. Same goes for the 330cc ace, both are selling them for $4999. So no real advantage to driving several hours anymore. The utvs aren't any cheaper either. Rzr 570 base model is listed for $8999, that's the price you can get them anywhere.

Since my nephew owned our shop I had access to the dealer invoice sheets and it's sure not what people think as to cost versus msrp! There's actually MORE profit on accessories and parts than there is on the individual machines.. Why do you think dealers love factory incentives or rebates.. It helps move machines out the door and off flooring plans that can eat profit up from dealers.

I worked retail in college (different animal) but for the most part, the larger the item the less markup there was. Large appliances might only make 5-10% and smaller nuts bolts, screws, etc would be 500-600% sometimes more.
The only thing I know about car dealers is from having a Chrysler green slip. Last car I bought I asked the salesman if the price was actually below dealer invoice like they claim. He assured me it was and stated that they get a refund check back from Chrysler for each one they well with an employee discount. So the company loses some of their profits and the dealer gets their profits back from Chrysler. Not sure if the others are that way or not.
