Okay just bought this a couple days ago it's a arctic cat 300 4x4 noticed the witch wasn't hooked up to the battery,hooked it up and rode it about 20 feet and seen smoke coming from under the seat. The winch was hooked up wrong by other owner well it burnt 2 wires that go to the solinoid, wasn't getting fire, bought a coil now the problem is it gets fire for awhile then it stops. Wat else could have burnt up besides coil or mabey bad coil??

 

You need to test all component of the electrical system. Check all wires, grounds, battery should get load tested, check stator, cdi box and voltage regulator. Get a diagram to install the winch. Perhaps spending $100 at the dealer or with an ATV shop might be money well spent, if you run out of ideas. Also, you don't know what the previous owner monkey rigged.
