Sounds like the guy was looking for a diamond and wanting to pay a stones price.

 

I think that's a pretty good way to sum it up. Anytime you buy something that doesn't run, its a gamble. It could be an easy fix or it could cost more than its worth to get it going again. But you can't blame the seller when you don't pay much for it.
