looking for a quad
Im 16 looking for a manual 4-stroke sport quad for under $3000. I'd like anything over a 350cc that will go at least 60-65. Id like anything older than 2000. I mostly ride on back roads or just on the trails in the woods, sometimes mudding. I'm just wondering what kind of quad would best suit me for my riding style.

Your best bang for your buck would probably be a Raptor 660. I've seen them used in good shape near where I live in the $2000-$2500 range. A Honda 400ex would be another good choice. Not quite as much power as the Raptor but still a great sport quad. The Suzuki Z400 and Kawasaki KFX 400 are also good choices.

Where about are you in the world? I have a 2004 KFX 400 that runs and drives with almost all aftermarket parts, it has been beaten on but maintained equally as much and I would be interested in selling it for right in your price range. The issue will likely be shipping if your far away as that's gonna suck. As for speed the 660 is "faster" then the 400ex or the kfx/ltz/dvx400 in a straight line stock for stock sure but in corners the 660 is a bit of a pig compared to the much lighter 400 class of bikes.
Comparing the KFX 400 to a Raptor 660:
Both are single cylinder 4 stroke engines.
They both have electric starters.
both are carbureted.
Both have a 5 speed plus reverse manual transmission.
both have Dual Hydraulic Disc front brakes while the 660 has Hydraulic Disc rear and the KFX has Disc.
The KFX is slightly wider then the raptor and has more clearance.
The KFX weighs 169.2KG and the 660 weights 180.5KG.
Both have steel frames.
Both have chain drives.
Both have halogen headlights.
So at the end of that the KFX 400 has a weight advantage is wider set (More stable) and has all of the features that the 660 does. It comes down to the horse power difference. The 660 stock makes (from what Ive read online) 35-42HP while the KFX 400 stock makes 32-37HP, that's very close considering the fact that the 660 has over a 50% displacement advantage on the 400cc KFX. Also consider that my bike is far from stock as is almost any bike you will find of that age.
Let me know if your interested in the bike and where you are, I'm in NB Canada. Also for parts and bikes keep in mind that many sport quad parts are interchangeable. For example the KFX 400, LTZ400 and DVX400 are the same exact bikes with different colors on them depending on if its the Kawi Suzuki or Arctic cat.
