Hi all, just joined the forum in hopes to finding out what is going on with my kq300. Installed a new battery about a year ago and only use the quad a few times a week. Over the last several months, the battery has became weak. Boosted it a few times to start it, trickle charged it, but it appears that the battery is shot. So now, I have an issue (still have the dead battery in place) with the quad running rough. It will run great, but at any given time, it will completely cut out and die. This has gotten worse to the point that now when I start it, it will start, but idles roughly and will die when letting off of the throttle. I have ruled out mechanical things...rebuilt the carb, new fuel pump, new plug, I have good spark... Could a bad stator cause this problem? thanks

 

If the battery has an internal short it could be messing up your electrical system. Remove the bad battery and try a good one.
