Suggestions on first quad for my son
#1
Hey everyone. I’m sure this has been asked before. My son will be six in Jan. He’s 45” tall. He has ridden battery powered quads when he was 3 and loves it on my brute force ( passenger) Should I get a 50cc quad for him or a 90cc?
Or maybe a used 80cc?
I’m thinking the 50 would be good for now but I’m thinking he will outgrow it soon. Also I seen that the kfx 50 and 90 are same frame ?Is there much mods to buy for a 50cc to make it really wake up? I read the kfx 50 can only go 8mph
I assume these are the quads available. For 50cc there’s yfz 50, raptor 50, outlaw 50, predator 50, scrambler 50, lt50, kfx50, ds50
then I guess outlaw 70 and ds70 in between and lt80, kfx80, raptor 80
then 90cc there’s raptor, outlaw, predator, scrambler, lt, kfx, ds,trx
let me know if there’s more

If he will be riding on state or federal land then govt guides must be followed for age and size, however....if you have private land for him to ride, get as large a machine as he can fit then let him gro into it. Now be responsible and govern his speed until he learns proper riding habits so no serious accidents take place. Education and supervision are far more critical than machine size in my opinion!!

This is why i went with the taotao brand of machines. Kids grow so fast that your swapping out units every few years... I have had 0 issues with them and the little one has loved them. I have been able to resell them for close to what i paid for them. Next year my little one will be 11 and ill be letting her take the 450 on trail rides with us. She has always drove my 500 and now a 850 with me on of course since she was about 4 when she started riding and im 100% confident in her abilities. I have never had issues with the law but i have also made it vary clear locally that when my little one is riding she is well supervised and if they want to fine me i will pay the fine and be back out next weekend with her as kids need to learn how to ride well before they are 16 just like us old timers did..LOL... well not me i learned at 20 and it ended badly and still pay for it 30 years later
