I have a buddy who has an 04 Ranger and want's a little more power. Does the Ranger have different gearing, CDI, or clutching than the
Sportsman 500 or is it just the extra tonnage that limits it? I guess what I am asking is will the standard 500 mods help this thing? (I ride a Kawi so I don't even know if there are any mods for these things)

 

I dont see how it would be different. Although I dont believe it uses the HO motor. But the clutch kits should work fine

 

on my brothers 02 it was the same as a sportsman non highoutput . now it has a fst 630 bigbore kit for a scrambler.hpd rollerclutch which is a team industies secondary. big cam and carb. it also has a modified powermaxx ehaust. this winter i am planning putting a 600 ev engine in it.

it goes mid 50s i would say. but it accerates twice as fast and is fun at the dunes. i bought a rhino and im putting all my raptor go fast parts on it .
