Don't buy a Blackline Plow for the Mule 610
#1
I read these forums once in a while. I mainly hang out on the RUV forum. However, I want to caution any of you who might have a Mule 610 and be contemplating a snow plow for a Mule 610 to beware of the Blackline Plow. My story follows:
I had emailed Blackline back in September, long before I bought the 610 and asked them if they were going to make a mount for the 610. They replied via email very quickly that the mounts would be ready by the end of October. Well, my daughter and son-in-law bought it for me for Christmas. The dealer had ordered everything from Tucker Rocky, but the receiver mount was out of stock. It was expected shortly. I had checked on TR's supply shortly after the plow arrived (This was in the first week of December.) TR did indeed have a part number for the mount, and it showed "Temporarily out of stock". When I got the plow in December, I was pretty sure there should be a mount by then. WRONG. I emailed Blackline again and asked what the problem was. I got no reply at all. A few days before Christmas I called them and asked about the lack of mounts. The lady I talked to asked for my dealer's number and said they would be in direct contact with them about getting a mount to them. This morning I called my dealer to see if Blackline had called. The answer was no. The parts guy told me he would call them to find out what the holdup was. This evening, he called me back to tell me he had been on the phone with Blackline trying to find out when a mount would be available. The truth is that NOT ONE MOUNT FOR A MULE 610 HAS EVER BEEN MADE AND THERE MAY NOT BE ONE EITHER. Now I have a 1200.00 plow sitting in my garage with no mount and not much hope of getting one anytime soon.
If I had been simply told the truth from Blackline from the beginning, I would have selected another plow system. But, to put it simply, they have lied to me. My dealer has offered to take the plow back. I know it is going to cost them quite a bit, even if TR will take it back from them.
I'm in business in a small way myself. I make it a point to never tell my customer that I will or can do something unless I am certain that I can and will do it in the time frame that I describe. That is the way it should be. I am more than disillusioned with Blackline. I AM ANGRY. VERY ANGRY. I am writing this post to let any of you know about my sorry situation so that if you are contemplating this plow system for a Mule 610, then think about another system. These guys may tell you one thing, but they might certainly do another.

that sucks you should talk to your lawyer becouse if they told you they had a mount mean while they didnt and you bought it thats false information get a lawyer to call them or call them saying you are going to sue they may make you a mount

How hard is it to fabricate your own mount? It can't possibly be too difficult. Since you have the plow, and you have the pushing vehicle, I'm guessing you it won't be too difficult to get some scrap steel and build a mount.

It really does suck. However, I am lucky to have a very good local dealer. He has already offered to take the plow back and order something else for me. As for building my own mount, my dealer chased down an engineer who was in the same dilemma as I'm in. He built his own mount. He emailed the schematics to my dealer who printed them and gave them to me. It will require some fairly precise metal cutting and welding. I can do quite a few things, but welding is not one of them. I may look around for a local shop who might do it for me. Right now, I am thinking I will just take the plow back to the dealer and order a Moose system. My dealer already has it set up to send immediately if I give him a call.
Thanks to all of you who have offered advice and moral support.

Too bad about your problems but at least you have great support at the dealer level. Maybe you could let us know who this dealer is and where they are located. Sounds like the place to go.
This convinces me to do no business with Blackline.

I would be happy to direct you to this dealer. I have known the two young men who run this dealership for years. In fact, they were both students of mine at Wilmington High School. Here is a link to their web site:
Clinton County Motorsports
If you contact them, ask for either Jason Adkins or Brad Copsey. Tell them Don Williams recommended them. (No I don't get anything special for having you tell them I recommended them.) I have no affiliation with this dealership at all. I just know these boys pretty well, and they have been especially good to work with.

I purchased a Mule 610 4x4 last Fall and have been working ever since with my dealer to secure a front mount 2x2" receiver so that I can add a front-mounted mower and, later this year, a front blade (snow plow). The only place we have been able to find that claims that they will produce such a mount is Swisher Mower & Machine Company (I am planning to buy the Swisher 1150 mower).
I have just emailed Clinton County Mototsports to determine if they can provide either the schematics or the receiver assembly.
Is there anyone else I should contact regarding obtaining this assembly?
My old knees are not liking the long and hilly walk behind my present mower.
Thank you, Gary

Update:
CCM replied to my email indicating that they can neither provide the assembly nor the schematics.
librarianwhs, are you willing and able to provide a copy of the schematics?

I would be happy to provide it if I had it. I pitched it out last winter after returning my Blackline plow and buying a Moose setup. I think you might be able to get what you are looking for over on this forum:

I am pretty certain there is guy on that forum who can help you. scroll down the the Kawasaki mule discussion forum and post about what you need. If the guy can help you, he will reply.
Again, sorry that I don't have the schematics. If I did, I would fax them to you tonight.
