governor 610 mule
#6
I am currently looking at side by sides, and ran across the kawasaki 3010 trans. I called the local kawi dealer, only to be told the governor is built intothe transmission. it is the high gear!!!
i was told the only way to get rid of it, is to rebuild the tranny, and swap out gears
what a pita!!!

Humm... I have an 06' 3000 - the govenor is sitting right on top of the motor. Don't we have the same engines?

I puchased the Mule 610 for the same reasons: Wife liked the looks, and she can ride are two small boys with her. I have owned the Ranger 500 and a Rhino 660. The performance is about half ( H.P., Wheel Travel, Ground Clearance, & top Speed). However, if that dosn't bother you it is very well made and should out last the competion. I am not aware of any hop-up parts for the Mule 610 except tires and wheels, but that will drag down your power.
You can go around the governor for a little more top speed, but it will start to over-rev above 28-30mph. I went around it not for more top speed, but to keep it from rolling the throttle to idle at just the wrong time. If someone just pins the throttle on a slight down-grade the motor will come apart. This would of course not be coverd by the warranty.
If you don't mind used look for a used ranger 500. They have a 40mph top speed, and some hop-up parts.
The mule has a 13.5hp motor and the Ranger claims 30hp.
Good luck!

Great product on E-bay sold to get your mule up into the 35-40mph with an easy modification of the govenor which can be undone in minutes. A monkey like me was able to install it. Have had it on for over a year+ with no side effects other than more speed
