Default Rhino sputtering and backfiring...

Hey all.

Today my 06 660 Rhino starting "sputtering" and missing at high throttle. This happened about 15 mintues after I went through some waist high water at a high speed.

It runs perfect at low speed and throttle but at about 75% throttle it almost stops running, almost like an over active govenor. It also backfired on me twice.

Does this sound like bad gas, or that I somehow got water in the fuel line, or intake, etc?
I think it's about time for a snorkel, but I wanted to get some opinions before I bring it into the shop.

Another issue is that my LCD screen is screwy lately, it's about 30 MPH over, I'll be moving at about 35 and it registers 65. I don't have any aftermarket parts or anything that would be interfering with the LCD readout.

Mike,
Drain the carb. There is a screw under the bowl. You don't need to take it all the way out.
Check your air box. I cut a hole in front of the the eng. compartment in front of the air box big enough to fit my hand so I can reach the air box drain plug without removing the seats to just drain the air box. I check it every other time or so when we go through "DEEP" water.
Even with the snorkel I'll get a few drops because I didn't use any silacone
(?spelling "silacone" ?) around the intake so I can service my air filter as needed. You can pick up a fuel filter at GB&D on hwy 43 cheap and I would replace it too. I also use elect. grease on my CDI conections, Plug wire, & Coil conections too. I'm also in Hancock Co. so if I can help give me a call 586-1812. I had mine drown befor. Call me, we can get you going again.
GOOD LUCK!!
Robert
Do you know Dr. B. Smith @ Kiln Chiropractic? He has a Rhino & we & others ride together. You need to come ride with us.

One more thing: are you running the stock CDI box? I had problems with my black rhino CDI box. If your running any other CDI than stock try putting the stock CDI back in. I was able to send my black rhino CDI back and I would guess the new one should be here any day now.

I was thinking that's all that's wrong with it. GB&D was where I had in mind to get the filter, too.

I'm starting to think I got some bad gas at Dedeaux store. My Foreman stopped running twice on me today, did the same thing the Rhino is doing, then stopped. I also have a friend with a Rhino that had to have the tank and everything drained because of water, 90% gas from Dedeaux store...
At least this should be something easy to fix.

Everything electrical and engine-wise on my Rhino is stock for the time being, I have plans to change out the CDI box and a few other things, but not until it's broken in good.

No, I don't know the Dr, heard of him.
I have your number and will get with you one day to ride sometime.
Thanks for the info!
