Check this article about a diesel Li-Ion series hybrid being developed for the military. They want it for EV mode stealth. This implies there will be design experience and parts to produce EV ATVs should the Gov outlaw gasoline.

It would cost a bundle, but WHAT a vehicle! Don't see the feds outlawing gasoline, but it is sure as heck going to be expensive down the road. The "peak" in oil production is here and now, going to be interesting to see how fast prices escalate when the industry begins to take advantge of the supply versus demand, and they surely will!

 

The price may not be so bad if this vehicle was manufactured in high volume. The on board generator sure would add utility. A fair amount of electricity is always availible.

 

Now ain't this a coincidence, but I own stock in that co.....Damn! maybe I could get a break on the price

 

As a stockholder, could you suggest they develop a model that uses a micro turtbin genset instead of the diesel? It should be more flexible on fuel and save weight.
