Exclamation 2001 raptor 660 ticking noise

hi. i have a 2001 raptor 660 that started making a ticking noise. it only does it while it is idling. if i push the choke on it will go away and if i rev it up it will also go away. i checked and tightened the valves.....i looked at the timing chain and it is like a half tooth out. could that be what is causing the noise? does anyone know anything else that would make it do this while its idling only....the ticking noise is almost like a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from the head. the cam chain is tight and it has high compression....it has a stage 1 hot cam and a 12:1 piston... i would say that its the timing chain but it wasnt making this noise the last time i rode it...i took the swing arm n all apart to rebuild it and after i put bike back together is when it started making the ticking noise....we checked the exhaust for rattles and was none so seems like the noise is deffintaly coming from inside the top end of motor.....any information would be very helpful.... thank you...
