Hello All,
Just purchased two Honda's 400 ex for me and my wife. She has always been into quads but I have never riden one in my life. I love the water and Boats but she said I will love riding quads since I love to camp, hike and get dirty. I am part of a boaters forum and I think it's very important for me to be involved into this forum as well to learn and take from other experiences. I live in Fontana and hope that we can all share good information. I just wanted to introduce myself. My wife and I are planning to take our first trip this weekend and probably will go to Lake Arrowhead (pinnacles??). Hope all goes well. The bikes are used that we bought. One is a '02 and the other is an '03. I just wish the exhaust were louder. Talk to you guys later.

welcome, good choice I have a 02 400 and love that thing. Let us know how you enjoy riding it. If you want a better exhaust there are plenty of aftermarket ones out there. Enjoy and be safe.

Welcome!! The single track trails around Pinnacles are definitely NOT FOR BEGINNERS!! They are narrow, washed out and rutted in some places, and there are some fairly technical sections. But still, it's my favorite place in So. Calif. Stick to some fire roads, and better yet, the open desert until you get a good bit of experience. Then go to Pinnacles and shred the trails.
Let us know if you need any advice on riding areas in So. Calif. Oh, and don't get that bike to loud. Rangers are checking bikes out on the trail, and the limit is (I think?????) 94 db. I know my 400's will never pass. My other bikes may not even make it.
Your wife is lucky that you are willing to ride with her!

Congrats! I to love my 400. I have a white bros. e series pipe on my bike. Sounds good and gives much power. Like yellowexracer said try rockymountainatv.com it's a good place to start for after market. By the way you have a smart wife. Good Luck on your first trip. The nice thing about quads compared to boats is if a quad breaks down you can walk away. I had an impeller break apart and I was unwillingly set to drift. That's when I bought my first quad. I do still have a boat though.
