LOL, don't I feel dumb, you already did ask it in the Yamaha forum.

 

I dont know why you guys are bashing the warrior. I have a 300ex but with your size i suggest the warrior. And i love how the warrior sits with the low seat. And the warrior was easier revers, better shocks, more power and speed, but needs to go on a diet.

 

easiest way to say it is to go out and ride both and everyquad u like and see which is the best.. some dealers will let u take out few used ones and compare htem

 

I was riding a Warrior before some of the kids in this forum were born. And, I was never so happy as the day when I sold it and got a nice new 400EX. Then, I was never so happy as the day I got the nice new Z..................you get the picture???? And, the Z has reverse!

 

The Warrior originally came out in 1987 while the 300EX came out in 1993. The Warrior has 348cc and weighs around 397lbs. The 300EX has 282cc and weighs around 377lbs. So the Warrior weighs around 20lbs. more but has 66cc's more.

Both quads have proven to be reliable over the years. Both also have pro's and con's. There are alot of used Warriors and 300EX's available for reasonable prices.

The 300EX would be better for maneuvering around in tight wooded areas. But the Warrior has at least a 6 mph advantage. If possible you should try both quads before buying one. They both have a different feeling to them. Sit on them and try to stand. This will be a little easier on the 300EX because of the positioning of the handle bars, foot pegs and seat. The Warrior has more of a cruiser feel to it. The Warrior does also feel heavy while riding.

I liked my Warrior but I wouldn't rule out a 300EX, depending on where you're going to be riding. Try them out and decide for yourself which one would be best for you and your wallet.

 

well i can say that i have rode both the warrior and the 300ex. i then bought a 300ex. mine is all stock and i ride w/ 2 other guys that have warriors w/ pipes. they will both barely pull ahead of me when we race and once they hit 6th gear i dont have a chance. but if i had a 6th gear and a pipe i think it would be very close. i am also 6'3" and i thought that the 300ex was more comfortable then the 350.

this may throw in a little corruption but, if you're looking for something that's faster than the 300 ex and has SLIGHTLY more power..... this may burst your bubbly but the yamaha blaster will do just that.

 

I had this same decision to make in 1993 (10 years ago). I was really leaning towards the Yamaha because it had the bigger engine and had a better reverse system. A friend of mine and I went to the local Yamaha/Honda dealer and told them we wanted to purchase one or the other but couldn't decide. They had a dirt track out back and they let us take both of them out and test them. We raced them around a track and down a straight away. The Yamaha was faster (as expected) but whoever was on the Honda could out carve and out race the Yamaha. What surprised me the most is how much more fun the Honda was than the Yamaha. It was an easy decision to buy the Honda. I have purchased 22 four wheelers since I bought that first 300ex, but I still have the 300ex. My wife loves to ride it more than anything that has come out since. If you are seriously still wondering which one to buy I still have an article that was given to me way back in 1993. They more than conclusively rate the 300ex higher than the Warrior. I could mail a copy of it to you if you give me your address.

one more thing, the only thing on the honda i hate is hoe complicated the reverse is. other then that, its the best one!
