i was driving my 250ex today and for no reason it shut off on me and now every time i give it gas it shuts off and it is having a hard time idling and i cant find out what is wrong with it

 

I'd check the main jet. Sounds like it may be partially plugged.

 

check the jet, and check everything to do with the carbeurator if that's not the problem.
how old is it?

 

my bike is a 2003 and it is working now i think it was the float was stuck open and it was getting to much gas but it works now so never mind

look in ur filter box and c if theres any liquid in it thats what hapened to mine

 

geeze an 03, that's new. and that sucks

 

.....maybe it needs a tune up.............. change the oil......... gotta keep it in good shape other wise it will do that ... i had the same problem you did , i took it into the dealership and they tinkered with it now it works better than ever. give it a try.

 

try running it on reserve for a while and then switch back to regular.
