250ex or 300ex?
i cant comment on a 300ex since i havnt ridden one before, but i do own a 250ex and very pleased with it. i take it through some very tough trials and it rides well, you can pull wheeleys on them very easy to, before you make your decision, find out about the 300ex, but im very pleased with my 250ex. people say its under powered but it goes fast enough for what i want it for (between 40-50mph so im told),

for what you want to do the 300ex is a much better choice. The top speed may be close with the 300 going like 55 and the 250 going like 51 but the 300 gets up there soooo much faster. And top speed is rarely used. The 250ex lands hard on jumps and the suspension is not adjustable. The 300ex wheelies better that a 250ex but does not feel like its gonna go flip over on rocky hills. The 300ex is also wider and has a what i like, a better ride with the handlebars up a lot higher that the seat. The 250 is has a higher seat which also decreases stabilty. You might want to look into a mojave though. they are almost the same but the mojave is said to go like a mile an hour faster and has more suspension travel and better turning radius. And it is cheaper! But it doesnt have elex\ctric start and most people(including me) like the ride of the 300ex better. Hope that heloped.

I owned a 300 for years, and currently have a 250. The 250 is a beginners bike, and even if you are a beginner you will reach the bikes performance limits pretty quick. The 300 has a dated engine and is underpowered, but still hops up pretty well. The bike has descent suspension, and is a capable jumper, within limits.
Unless you are on the small side, why not just skip these and go for a 400???? With the money you will spend hopping up the 300, you can have a 400 to start with.
