Tire Size on Rancher?
#1
Was wondering what is the biggest size tire you can put on a stock rim? I would like to put a size or two bigger on my Rancher w/o getting new rims. Is there a way? Can anyone help.
Thankx.....

you COULD put 26" on but I wouldn't recommend it !!!!! you will feel the POWER lose ........ if you go 26" get the MUDLIGHTS, a buddy of ours just got some and there SWEET to say the least , and very LITE too, especially with the highlifter lite rims, ( nice package) together they wieght in less than my 25" GBC GATOR tire alone !!!!!
a good 25" mud tire should be fine without much power lose, anymore and the Ranchers little 329cc will take a beating !!!

ALWAYS put the SAME size tires around the machine. I have a 2x4 Rancher and it comes with 25" all around. I put some 25" Gators on for the MUD , and it really HOOKED this thing up. I've gone were less experience 4x4's go, though thats due to rider ability !!!!
go with some bearclaws or those mudlites in 25" you wont be disapointed ( they have 3/4 & 5/8" depth I beileive). If its all out mud your looking for go with goodyear mudrunners, though $$ or some 589's, remember mud tires can ride rough on hardpack !!!!
If no mud is in your future ITP make a new ATR tire thats GREAT !!!!
have fun, scott

Scott, I think I have 24 8-12 on frt, & 24 9-11 on rr. So you are saying I can put a 25" same tire all the way around. Looking for a little bigger OEM replacement tire. My friend just put some TRAILWOLF'S on his '87 Honda an they look good.
Thankx

yes the same all the way around.
you CAN do damage to the gearing if you go with different size tires in front and rear, plus going to 25" will give you a 1/2" more ground clearance. The problem is they will not rotate at the same speed/circumference "possibly" causing trans problems.

Scott, What do you mean by the same size. All four ( 24" 9-11) or do you mean you can't go with 24" on front an 25" on back. So if I went with; Lets say (25" 9-11) all the way around would be fine?

correct you can't go 24" in the front and 25' in the rears, width doesn't matter, though I'm sure you wouldn't go wider on the front than the rear.......
for your machine I would say 25"x 8" x 12" on front and 25" x 12" x11" on the rears going with the STOCK rims that is !!!!
the 489 xt's are really nice for a 4 wheel hookup no matter what the terraine, cost is good and they are reasonbly light !!!

I had 25x8 and 25x10 mudrunners on my rancher and traction was great in all conditions.Steering was light and ride was quite smooth as well. Some power loss could be felt but it was not really a problem.
