Is there any code to the 400EX serial number on the frame? Such as what month and year it was made?

10th character is the year. If it is a 2001 then it will be a "1", 2002 then a "2", etc. 2000 was actually the letter "Y" and you can just go backwards through the alphabet for the previous year.

Don't think the month is on there.
